Bug#1051613: linux-image-6.1.0-12-amd64: 6.1.0-12 breaks loading DVB ddbridge module and others

2023-09-10 Thread Patrick Cernko
Package: src:linux
Version: 6.1.52-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

after upgrading from 6.1.0-11 to 6.1.0-12 the DVB driver does not load
any more. The error in the kernel log is:

kernel: failing symbol_get of non-GPLONLY symbol lnbh25_attach.
kernel: DVB: Unable to find symbol lnbh25_attach()

a similar error is already reported on the kernel mailing list:
https://www.spinics.net/lists/stable/msg679272.html

I downgraded to 6.1.0-11 again to get my DVB devices working.

Confirmed this is a regression up to mainline, cf.

Hi Salvatore,

it's been more than two weeks now since the last update here. Any
estimated time when we can get the kernel security update with WORKING
DVB driver support?

The change is pending for the next upload which will be done;
currently aimed for the next point release (including a rebase to
6.1.55 and several other bufixes).

The next point release is scheduled on 7th October, meaning that the
kernel needs to be uploaded to the stable-proposed-updates queue the
weekend before (and testing from there would be very welcome).

I can confirm that updating my kernel to
linux-image-6.1.0-13-amd64-unsigned from proposed-updates did fix the
bug for me.

Thank you very much.

Thanks a lot for confirming! The signed packages are now as well
available and all pending for the upcoming point release of next
weekend.
