Sounds like #337065 - could you please check...

Hello Jonas,

well I cannot use a UUID either with yaird and replacing LABEL=debian by
/dev/disk/by-label/debian seems to work, so the bug I reported appears
to be similar to #337065.

I have no reiserfs oder ext3 root partition to test whether it would work
with other filesystems.

Regards,

Bug#341498: does not find valid filesystem label from fstab LABEL= option

2005-11-30 Thread Martin Steigerwald
Package: yaird
Version: 0.0.11-12
Severity: normal

Sending manually via KMail as I missed switching report bug SMTP server
from master.debian.org to bugs.debian.org as indicated in the changelog
of latest reportbug package.

Hello,

yaird doesn't seem to work with a label for the root filesystem:

Richte linux-image-2.6.14-2-686 ein (2.6.14-4) ...
Using /usr/sbin/mkinitrd.yaird to build the
ramdisk.
Full list of probed ramdisk generating tools :
/usr/sbin/mkinitrd /usr/sbin/mkinitrd.yaird
/usr/sbin/mkinitramfs.
yaird error: label 'debian' not found
(/etc/fstab:6) (fatal)
Failed to create initrd image.
dpkg: Fehler beim Bearbeiten von
linux-image-2.6.14-2-686 (--configure):

Fehlerwert 2 zurück
Fehler traten auf beim Bearbeiten von:
 linux-image-2.6.14-2-686
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error
code (1)

The offending line in /etc/fstab is:

LABEL=debian   /   xfs defaults0
1

This line works perfectly fine since ages and also worked with previous
mkinitrd
tool.

The label seems to be fine:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/ - xfs_admin -l /dev/hda5
label = debian

As soon as I replace the offending line in /etc/fstab by

/dev/hda5 / xfs defaults0
1

yaird seems to work correctly.

This bug may or may not be related to: bug #337168 and bug #337415. I
reported
it cause for me it seems to be a different problem as yaird seems to get
the
label name correctly (no / that is reduced to ), but it still doesn't
find
the label.

Regards,
Martin
