Thanks to Jean-Pierre "jipege" Giraud and Mechtilde Stehmann, I've just
committed and printed the french and german (and dutch and english) versions of
our flyer.

C U!

Hi Helge,

Thanks for your detailed reply! Yes, there is work to do & sorry for seeming
to be impatient.

Fair enough, thanks for your detailed reply.

BTW, there are more Debian flyers on salsa and elsewhere, didn't have a close
look at those yet. debian/debian-flyers has a long history, and that shows.

So, yes, indeed, there is work to do...

I *hope* to have more time for investing in this after the FOSDEM weekend.

Bye,

Joost

Hi,

Could the translations in french and german of our flyer[0] get updated?
I'd like to print a few of them today or tomorrow, for our booth [1]
at the FOSDEM conference in Brussels, this weekend.

Sources in english are available from
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/debian-flyers/-/blob/master/english.tex .

Translations which could use an update are
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/debian-flyers/-/blob/master/francaise.tex and
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/debian-flyers/-/blob/master/deutsch.tex .

Contributions in any format are welcome: email a patch, commit and push to
master, talk to me on irc, submit a MR, ...

Please Cc me on replies; I am not subscribed.

Thanks!

Bye,

Joost

I've just committed the work of JP Guillonneau and the Debian l10n French
community to git; a freshly typesetted french/english flyer is now available
from http://mdcc.cx/tmp/flyer-francaise-english.pdf .

Thanks for your support!

[MAJ] prospectus Debian aka Debian Flyer (for GNU/Linux Install Party in Algiers, april 29, 2017 "OpenMindsClub")

2017-03-31 Par sujet Joost van Baal-Ilić
Bonjour,

La traduction du prospectus Debian mérite une mise à jour.

(Excuse me for switching to english now...)

The Debian flyer is available in 9 languages; it's been maintained for more
than 15 years. It's being used for promoting Debian to a general audience,
e.g. at free software conferences. This month there'll be a GNU/Linux Install
Party in Algiers; it'd be very cool if we could offer an up to date translation
to our friends in Algeria. See
https://lists.debian.org/msgid-search/20170330064914.gd29...@beskar.mdcc.cx for
background.

The original english.tex was updated last month. The french translation
(quoted below) was last updated in 2011. Both files are attached to this
message.

Thanks to larjona's efforts, the flyer sources are now maintained using git at
https://anonscm.debian.org/git/debian-flyers/debian-flyers.git (and
git+ssh://git.debian.org/git/debian-flyers/debian-flyers.git ). Please either
commit updated translation there; or send it to me via email (I am not
subscribed to this list).

Merci beaucoup! Salut,

Joost

Please update translations for the Debian GNU/Linux FAQ

2008-03-30 Par sujet Joost van Baal
Hi,

Javier Fernández-Sanguino Peña, Simon Paillard, me and others have done
quite some work on the Debian GNU/Linux FAQ since its latest upload in
Jan 2007 (in the doc-debian package). This FAQ is published on all
Debian mirrors (e.g. at ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/doc/FAQ/), on the
Debian website at http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/debian-faq/ (and at
http://www.debian.org/doc/user-manuals#faq) and in the doc-debian,
doc-debian-fr, doc-debian-uk and doc-debian-es packages.

The English master text has seen quite some changes. It'd be cool if
the various translations (de, es, fr, it, pl, pt_BR, ru, uk, zh_CN)
could get brought back in sync, so that our users have a high quality
faq when we ship lenny.

For your convenience, I've created a diff of the sources between Jan
2007 and now; it's at http://mdcc.cx/tmp/debian-faq.diff-r4130.patch .

You can fetch the current sources by running

 svn co svn://svn.debian.org/svn/ddp/manuals/trunk/faq

(They're no longer maintained using CVS, but using Subversion (thanks to
Raphael Hertzog).)

If you haven't got direct commit acccess, you can sent translation
patches by mail, submit them using the BTS or ask a committer to submit
it directly. See http://alioth.debian.org/projects/ddp/ for the Alioth
project where the FAQ is currently being maintained.

If you find any errors in the original English text, of course please
report them.

Thanks for your work!

Bye,

Joost

PS FYI: Currently, work is being done in splitting the FAQ off the
doc-debian package, and shipping it in a new standalone debian-faq
package. This won't matter directly for the need for translation
updates, though.
