What you posted is the 3-clause BSD license (just with the name of the copyright holder substituted, compare with /usr/share/common-licenses/BSD). It's perfectly fine (software released solely under this license does comply with the DFSG) and it's GPL-compatible, among other things. > Please Cc me because i haven't subscribed to the > list ;). Copyright does not cover use: I can legally use a piece of software without accepting its copyright license; as long as I do not engage in activities such as redistribution or modification, I'm perfectly OK. I don't like seeing such misleading warnings, but I don't think they are a freeness issue (especially when the license to be agreed to is an almost-all-permissive one such as the 3-clause BSD). -- :-( This Universe is buggy! If * the package is entirely released solely under the license you posted * the package's source code is available * there are no other legal issues (such as actively enforced patents, restrictions due to trademarks, ...) * the package does not depend or recommend packages outside of main then I think it can be included in main (at least from freeness and legal points of view: you still have to comply with other Policy requirements, of course!). -- :-( This Universe is buggy! Re: Bioapi license DFSG free ?
Hello, With this kind of license, all the GPL'ed software that using this API (for instance pam-bioapi which is using bioapi) should have : "Specific permission is granted for the GPLed code in this distribition to be linked to BioAPI without invoking GPL clause 2(b)." in the copyright file in order to be put in main debian section, right ?
