Bug#906722: lintian: warn about `dh_shlibdeps -V` in debian/rules

2018-08-20 Thread Paul Wise
Package: lintian
Severity: wishlist

I was updating an old package and got a warning from dh_shlibdeps:

dh_shlibdeps -V "libglc0 (>= 0.7.1)"
dh_shlibdeps: You probably wanted to pass -V to dh_makeshlibs, it has no effect
on dh_shlibdeps

It would be nice to have lintian warn about this too since some folks
might not read their build logs extensively but might pay more
attention to lintian.

This is what the debian/rules file in question looks like:

$ grep shlib debian/rules
override_dh_shlibdeps:
dh_shlibdeps -V "libglc0 (>= 0.7.1)"
