 Hi all,

for your information, there is a new BioPerl release scheduled soon.

I a still very busy at work and may not be able to push it in Debian quickly.
Also, we need to ensure compatibility with the reverse dependancies.
What do you propose ? Push it to experimental but build test then try to
build all reverse dependants?
I think there are many packages that depend on BioPerl, how can we test
them all ? (one by one on our computer? or is there a Debian tool/way to
do so?)

I am committed to keep BioPerl in shape in Debian, but if somebody wants
to step in and take the lead, I would be pleased.
I can take the lead on BioPerl if you want.

 Cheers,

 All,

I am scheduling the next BioPerl CPAN release tentatively for March 1. Any
help in triaging bug reports would be greatly appreciated!

Amongst all other changes, as mentioned in a separate thread we will remove
Bio::FeatureIO, now developed in a separate repository:

 https://github.com/bioperl/Bio-FeatureIO

Feedback, suggestions, etc are greatly appreciated.

Hi Olivier,

yes, please take the lead if you feel so. Given that you maintain gbrowse, it
makes a lot of sense.

We can commit the next upstream version in an experimental branch of the
Git repository of the bioperl source package. Then either we upload, or
the developers build the package themselves and test it.

To test the reverse dependancies, since most of them execute their regression
tests at build time, we can for instance install bioperl in a chroot,
and rebuild all of them. This may be eased by pbuilder or schroot.

Fwd: Possible misconfiguration of mail server on wagner?

2013-02-06 Thread andrei zavada
Hi guys,

It looks like there's a problem with commit notifications on alioth.
Yaroslav identified it to be possibly due to cia.vc being down.

So if you look into your spam folders and run away trying to hide from
CIA who spies on you from alioth, relax :}

 Ah, ok then.

haven't got similar ones and disabled the hooks -- you better clarify on

I bet they have more important things to do than look into their
 (gmail) spam folders :}

no -- still -- better to inform them -- they might want to disable all
of them at once

CIA is not possibly down but definitely down. There was some
announcement that the service was replaced by KGB.[1] ;-) In practice
this means for us at least to deactivate CIA for our commits - it would
even better to check what is needed to use KGB - some hints were given
here: [2]

So if you look into your spam folders and run away trying to hide from

... or instead of relax try to implement the new service. :-)
In any case the mails are mostly harmless - I did not cared to stop
these to make a permanent reminder that there is some work left to do
to implement the replacement.

Kind regards

  Andreas.

thanks for the preparation - I have checked the build and it looks OK.
I guess we can upload to unstable (because it is not in testing anyway.)

not happy with still overriding the lintian warnings for
hardening-no-relro and hardening-no-fortify-functions; any idea about
 this?

From a quick view it looks like a false positive. The hardening options
seem to be OK. I would not override this warning to make sure it will
not be hidden from some false positive research. However, I'm not fully
competent in this question and if you want to be fully sure you might
like to ask this question on debian-ment...@lists.debian.org.

Kind regards
