sponsor for QEmacs maybe

2001-04-27 Thread Edmund GRIMLEY EVANS

QEmacs is a tiny full-screen editor with UTF-8 support, a hex mode and
the ability to edit huge files efficiently:

http://www-stud.enst.fr/~bellard/qemacs/

It's not very mature yet, but it seems good enough to be useful. There
didn't seem to be a Debian package, and I felt it was about time I
learnt something about how to make Debian packages, so I made one:

http://rano.org/qemacs/

Does anyone want to review this and either take it over as maintainer
for the benefit of Debian or tell me what I've done wrong for my
benefit?

Edmund

removing package/provide upgrade path

2001-04-27 Thread Ashley Clark

I have a package that has been merged with another. I would like to
remove the package from the archive but I'm concerned with users that
already have the package installed. How to make sure that they know to
install another package? Upload a new version that Depends on the
replacement package, noting that it can then be deleted seems to be the
best way, but what is recommended?

Please cc as I don't subscribe to this list.

If you say where your packages are, I can have a look at multiseti.

xplsisnjasp - plugin for xmms which provides lightshow via parport

and I made package for program which is not mine:

away - terminal locking program with additional capabilities

The usual approach is to upload an empty package that Depends: on the new
one and make a note in docs and/or the description...

Heh. There's a man page somewhere in debian that looks something like:

a few man header-type things here
.so /usr/bin/foo
a few man footer-type things here

You can probably imagine what an unholy mess of groff pretending to be
shell comments and shell pretending to be groff comments are in
/usr/bin/foo. :-)
