Looking for a sponsor

2004-12-20 Thread Maciej Dems
Hello everybody,

I am a happy Debian user for about a year now. I have made several custom
packages for the software I could not find in debian. Please tak a look
at http://phys.p.lodz.pl/~maciek/debian unstable main contrib non-free

Currently I would like to add some of my packages to Debian. The first one
should be polcnv - Polish diacritics conventer, a tool simmilar to recode
but much easier to use.

I would like someone to sponsor polcnv for me. Please find the complete
package at

http://phys.p.lodz.pl/~maciek/debian/pool/unstable/main/polcnv/

Thank you for ypur help,
Maciej

RFS: pasmo, cbios, openmsx, openmsx-catapult

2004-12-20 Thread Joost Yervante Damad
Hello,

I packaged pasmo, cbios, openmsx and openmsx-catapult, and am looking for a
sponsor or sponsors. Packages are available via

deb http://lumatec.be/joost/debian/ ./
deb-src http://lumatec.be/joost/debian/ ./

The packages are lintian clean. I also work closely with upstream as I am an
ex-developer of openMSX. pasmo is needed to build cbios, and cbios provides a
free bios for the openMSX MSX emulator. openmsx-catapult is a graphical
frontend for openMSX. As the packages are very closely related I also provide
below extra information concerning their relation.

ITP bug related to packaging:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=221086

Detailed description of the software:

Package: pasmo
Description: An easy to use Z80 cross-assembler
Pasmo can generate object code in several formats suitable for many
Z80 machines and emulators. Pasmo generates fixed position code, can
not be used to create relocatable object files for use with linkers.
Pasmo is compatible with the syntax used in several old assemblers,
by supporting several styles of numeric and string literals and by
providing several names of the most used directives.
License: GPL
Build-Depends: pasmo
Upstream: http://www.arrakis.es/~ninsesabe/pasmo/

Package: cbios
Description: open source MSX BIOS roms
C-BIOS is an open source BIOS for MSX computers.
C-BIOS can be shipped with MSX emulators so they are usable out-of-the-box.
It comes readily configured for the openMSX emulator.
License: BSD
Upstream: http://cbios.sf.net/

Package: openmsx
Description: the MSX emulator that aims for perfection
openMSX is an open source MSX emulator that uses a unique emulation model:
it tries to achieve the highest level of accuracy possible.
It comes with all bells and whistles, like debugging, scriptable in TCL,
 scalers, ...
License: GPL
Depends: cbios
Upstream: http://openmsx.sf.net/

Package: openmsx-catapult
Description: GUI for openMSX
openMSX catapult is a graphical frontend for the openMSX emulator
License: GPL
Depends: openmsx
Upstream: http://openmsx.sf.net/

Many thanks,

Joost Damad

Great work. Only a few glitches:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/Desktop/debian/presults$ linda
polcnv_2.6-1_i386.changes
W: polcnv; File /usr/share/doc/polcnv/LICENSE-GPL.gz is considered to be
an extra license file.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/Desktop/debian/presults$ lintian
polcnv_2.6-1_i386.changes
W: polcnv source: out-of-date-standards-version 3.6.0
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/Desktop/debian/presults$

Besides, what exactly is this file?
-rw-r--r-- root/root 8929 2003-09-06
16:33:35 ./usr/share/doc/polcnv/LICENCJA-GNU.gz

Keep on the nice work,

Patrz w ekran, a to David Moreno Garza pisze do mnie:
 Great work.

Thanks ;)

 /usr/share/doc/polcnv/LICENCJA-GNU.gz

This is Polish translation of the GPL licence file. It was included in the
upsource.

I have corrected the glitches you have mentioned. Would you be so kind to
upload the package for me? If there is still something to correct please
let me know... Thanks.

Maciej

Hi Maciek.

How does your package differ from konwert?

Has it got some advantages?

Re: CERN root

2004-12-20 Thread Ricardo Yanez
Hi Kevin,
This is not the first time we read each other. To answer your
question... yes, I started with the scripts you mention to create the
debian directory (archaic if you believe the revision logs). As you say,
they are non-working. To make the story short, the --enable-pthread
option had to be removed because it prevented us from compiling within
root (cint) the data reading and analysis codes. I'm guessing a conflict
between the pthread dev files included in the root source and the one
part of the debian system.

We are at the begining stage of the transition from PAW to ROOT and may
hence learn more about how to compile working binaries, i.e., binaries
that work in real applications, like on-line monitoring and off-line
analysys. For working out the examples and tutorial the scripts you
mention are quite OK.

I can add little concerning the licensing issues.

 Hi Ricardo,

I guess it's been mentioned that there are serious licensing issues a
package of Root would have to surmount. On a different note, though, I
was just wondering if you had checked into the Debian packaging already
present in Root. There are scripts in root/build/package/lib that
create a debian directory, although I seem to remember them being
unsupported or non-working; if you haven't already, you may want to take
a look at them. Maybe they could be fixed and sent upstream.
