It's entirely possible that a DD on that/those list(s) might be interested in sponsoring just this package into the archive. Since you're not in NM, you can't ask your AM to sponsor your package, but if you get to that stage and still haven't found a sponsor, then you can do that, too. Do you know of any DDs located at your educational institution, either as student or staff member? You may be able to get them to sponsor the package for you, either through altruism or other means. Do you know any DDs personally, say through a local LUG, past social engagements, or even just a DD that you talk to socially through e-mail or IRC? It's a lot harder to turn down a sponsorship request made to you personally by someone you know socially. (Experience talking here). In short, d-mentors is by far not the only place to get a sponsor (and it probably isn't even the most successful way to get a sponsor, by my reckoning). - Matt signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Also, you specify the topology of the simulated network. . Cnet compiles your source and dinamically links it, and the simulation begins. It is a graphical program, so you cand view your simulated packes travelling in a virtual network environment. Location: http://ulises.tel.uva.es/~mendi/public/ Merry Christmas and Happy new year. I don't think it is patch that is doing the complaining. $ tar xvzf edsadmin-0.8.1.orig.tar.gz $ mv edsadmin-0.8.1.orig edsadmin-0.8.1 $ zcat edsadmin_0.8.1-2.diff.gz | patch -p0 patching file edsadmin-0.8.1/debian/changelog patching file edsadmin-0.8.1/data/Makefile patching file edsadmin-0.8.1/config.status $ dh_clean seems to kill that directory. I guess I'll just make sure to remove that from my tarballs. It looks like using a newer version of automake will give me a maintainer-clean target that removes this stuff and dist will roll my tarball for me (without that stuff). Mark Roach: > These are native packages i.e. The debian packaging info is part of > the upstream tarball (I am the author). It is my understanding that > since there is no difference between upstream and packaged versions > no diff is necessary... isn't this right? When I've released upstream software and Debian versions at the same time, and where Debian wasn't the primary "platform", I have included the debian subdirectory in the upstream tarball, but I have created it as a regular Debian package, meaning that -1 got an empty diff. When I subsequently released a -2, still from the upstream CVS, I did generate a diff, relative to the -1 release. That diff was then quite small (only the -2 release in the changelog file, plus the minor fixes to other files). In the upstream CVS, I have the debian subdirectory on a separate branch, so that if the main author releases a tarball, it will be released without the debian subdirectory, and I can then create a tarball as usual. I've found that this works quite well. If your only distribution you ever plan on supporting is Debian, then maybe it is. However, making upstream releases to fix Debian-only issues (including, possibly, nothing more than a recompile for a new ABI) is a serious pest. You can do all of the Debian-specific maintenance in a separate "debian" branch of your revision control system (you do *use* a good revision control system, don't you?) and make regular orig+diff packages. Trust me on this -- unless your package is *really* Debian-specific, you're much better off with orig+diff packages.
