RFS: dtc (updated package)

2007-07-12 Thread Thomas Goirand

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for the new version 1.11-1
of my package sbox-dtc.

It builds these binary packages:
sbox-dtc - A CGI wrapper script for chrooted environment for hosting

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix these bugs: 431673 429072

Also, the package now features a new config file so it's not needed to
recompile the package to change options.

The package can be found on one of our mirros:

USA:
ftp://ftp.gplhost.com/debian/dists/sid/main/binary-i386/sbox-dtc_1.11-1.dsc

Singapore:
ftp://ftp.gplhost.sg/debian/dists/sid/main/binary-i386/sbox-dtc_1.11-1.dsc

France:
ftp://ftp.gplhost.fr/debian/dists/sid/main/binary-i386/sbox-dtc_1.11-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards
 Thomas Goirand

RSF: dtc (updated package)

2007-07-12 Thread Thomas Goirand

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for the new version 0.3.0-1
of my package dtc-xen.

It builds these binary packages:
dtc-xen - SOAP daemon and scripts to allow control panel management for
Xen VMs

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix these bugs (many are updated translations): 418254,
424882, 423609, 422514, 422326, 422332, 422126, 421517, 419213

Also, the package now is updated for the newest Xen kernel, it should
work with up to 3.0.4-1.

There's still an RC bug that I couldn't fix #431705, as I was not able
to reproduce it. It has been said that there was a problem calling
htpasswd, but as far as I know, this doesn't happen, so I don't really
know what to do with that one (maybe just close the bug). I did purge
the package, then dpkg-reconfigure debconf to set it as non-interactive,
then reinstalled the package, and there was no problem (done under an
updated SID VPS). Help would be appreciated on that one, but it's still
important that the package is uploaded asap to have the translation
uploaded.

The package can be found on one of our mirros:

USA:
ftp://ftp.gplhost.com/debian/dists/etch/main/binary-i386/dtc-xen_0.3.0-1.dsc

Singapore:
ftp://ftp.gplhost.sg/debian/dists/etch/main/binary-i386/dtc-xen_0.3.0-1.dsc

France:
ftp://ftp.gplhost.fr/debian/dists/etch/main/binary-i386/dtc-xen_0.3.0-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards
 Thomas Goirand

2007-07-12 Thread Thomas Goirand
Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for the new version 0.26.2-1
of my package dtc.

It builds these binary packages:
dtc - web control panel for admin and accounting hosting services
dtc-package-installer - Adds package installer apps to DTC
dtc-stats-daemon - dtc-xen VM statistics for the dtc web control panel
dtc-toaster - web control panel for admin and accounting hosting
services (meta package)

dtc-postfix-courier - web control panel for admin and accounting hosting
services (more depends)

dtc-common - web control panel for admin and accounting hosting services
(common files)

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix these bugs: 429214 417248

The package can be found on one of our mirros:

USA:
ftp://ftp.gplhost.com/debian/dists/sid/main/binary-i386/dtc_0.26.2-1.dsc

Singapore:
ftp://ftp.gplhost.sg/debian/dists/sid/main/binary-i386/dtc_0.26.2-1.dsc

France:

Re: btrfs packages: reviews appreciated

2007-07-12 Thread Adrian von Bidder
Hi Kel,

Thanks a lot for your time.

[ btrfs packages ]

Had a quick look, some comments:

 * these also need to be removed by upstream's clean target:
   .*.o.cmd
   .tmp_versions/
   Module.symvers

Will pass that on to upstream.

 * btrfs-modules-source should have a versioned dependency on debhelper
(=0.5.37) to ensure that dh_installmodules will always be useful

5.0.37, I guess.

 * kdist_clean: should call upstream's clean target, not the debian/rules
 clean target

That's from dh-make, so I'll need to file another bug on that :-)

 - #432816

As far as I understand, kdist_clean is called while building
btrfs-modules-_KVERS_ (with module-assistant, or however).

Should it only call upstream make clean, or does it also need to clear up
the leftovers from the package building process, so it'd need to call
dh_clean and upstream make clean?

 * debian/rules would be easier to parse if all the commented/example
 stuff were stripped

True.

 * README.Debian summary is confusing. If the summary is Do not use
btrfs. then who is the crazy person that packaged it? and why? Wouldn't
it be better to explain why you are packaging it just as you did in email
 sent to this list?

New summary: Do not use for real work.

 * README.Debian typo - modules-assistang auto-install btrfs

... and some other typos as well :-)

cheers

Damyan, Thanks so much for answering, and thanks especially for
agreeing to work with me on the package.

Work is a bit strong :) I'll just review/upload. You are supposed to
 do the work :)

Thanks for reviewing and uplading my work, then.

I could hound him to put the header in every source file, I suppose,
but I have the email exchange proving that he really meant to license
the game this way. I hope this is enough.

It could be if you put it in debian/copyright, preferably as a
temporary solution. You could prepare the necessary changes and send
them upstream (in form he prefers) so they can be included in the next
 upstream release.

Ok, I will do that, though I am ready to bet that the only changes upstream
will ever make to this game will be to add my licensing wordings, if that.

The game writes its HiScores file (spout.sco) in the current working
directory. Can you make it use /var/games for that? Or at least
 ~/.spout.sco?

Fixed it so now hi scores go in ~/.spout.sco

Thank you for your work so far.

Thank *you*!.

Finally, please make the source package available somewhere. I had to
search the list archives to find the location for the last package and
it appears it is still not updated. http://mentors.debian.net is often
used these days (and gives you some uploading experience).

Ok. First, I apologise for forgetting to upload after making the changes.
Second, I have uploaded it to mentors.debian.net:
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/s/spout

Thanks again.

Nope, no debian specific stuff need be cleaned at all. Just call upstreams
clean target. By this time, the debian package has been built, uploaded,
downloaded and installed. The rest of debian/rules is completely superfluous
when it comes to just building the kernel module from the debianized tarball.

For example, in all kernel module packages I maintain, i have debian/rules and
debian/rules.modules. Each have specific tasks:
debian/rules: responsible for package building tasks
debian/rules.modules: responsible for module building tasks

Only debian/rules.modules is installed to the module tarball
(as /usr/src/modules/$pkgname/debian/rules).

One gotcha: I recommend also supplying kernel version variables when calling
the upstream makefile's clean target, in your case KERNELDIR=$(KSRC). This is
required sometimes for when compiling for kernel version != `uname -r`,
depending on what sanity checking/cleaning and other actions are performed.

Thanks, Kel.

you've got something to point them at.

Thanks Thijs, and thanks also to everyone else who has contributed material
