Hi,

I don't see the point of packaging an old library because one program
(which is not yet part of Debian) requires it. Is the API very
different? Have you talked with Nikto's author? Why not migrating
Nikto from the Whisker to the Whisker2 API? Sure, it's more work, but
it prevents us from packaging useless and obsolete software.

It's a shame they're no longer recommending it, since the reasons ("to
help distinguish a URI from other bracketed designators") are just as
valid, and "is not commonly used in practice" is not a criterion for
avoiding a recommendation in an RFC.

You're quite right that the status of that recommendation has changed,
so I'm wrong in my earlier assertions. Thanks for correcting me.

I'm afraid terminfo libraries cannot see your keyboard (but they can 
keep a list of the possibilities much better than a hand-crafted table
in a script ;-)

marketing but that usage doesn't validate the poor use of grammar when
the writer is not trying to deceive the reader. Note the extra 'and'
added prior to the comma in the alternative.)

Where there is grouping within the list, a comma can be used:
My bag contains juicy apples, pears and oranges, and vegetables.

(Again another 'and' has been added. Most people would not describe
vegetables as juicy so the ambiguity is not present and the comma
indicates the break in the descriptive list.)

I fixed the date in the copyright file (sorry about that, it was from a
previous version of audtty), as well as made the AUTHOR line plural.

In your final example, deleting vegetables (which should generally be
allowed) yields:

 My bag contains juicy apples, pears and oranges.

or in a case where it actually matters:

 My money is to be equally split between Jack, John, Jill and Bob.

Is that split four ways or three? The comma makes it clear.

following the penultimate item in a list of three or more depends on
which camp you belong to; FWICT modern usage is tending towards using
it.]

I have some fixes/suggestions for you. Since this would be the first
package that I would sponsor, I hope we can learn from each other!

General remark:

Please go through the package completely *as if* I were the person
who had done the packaging and you were the person performing the
sponsor-ship. Experience says that the time of adoption is probably
the time when the maximum effort is/can be put into cleaning up
packaging issues.

While the "concept" of Public Domain is fine for Debian, I'm a little
concerned about the execution.  This doesn't seem like a "proper" licence
grant, like the GPL boilerplate, and hence might not be considered to be
sufficiently clear for Debian to take the risk on.  I'd check with d-legal,
and perhaps try and get a clearer licence statement out of upstream.

I tried to compile and exec this package on my PC and got this:

Depending on context, yes. In a list where all items are the same
level, a comma before 'and' is poor grammar, albeit not necessarily 'wrong':

My bag contains juicy apples, pears, oranges, and lemons.
should be
My bag contains juicy apples, pears, oranges and lemons.
or
My bag contains juicy apples, pears and oranges, and rotten lemons.

(In the original, inserting the comma introduces an ambiguity about
whether the lemons are juicy. This ambiguity is exploited in en_GB
marketing but that usage doesn't validate the poor use of grammar when
the writer is not trying to deceive the reader. Note the extra 'and'
added prior to the comma in the alternative.)

Where there is grouping within the list, a comma can be used:
My bag contains juicy apples, pears and oranges, and vegetables.

(Again another 'and' has been added. Most people would not describe
vegetables as juicy so the ambiguity is not present and the comma
indicates the break in the descriptive list.)

Well, in this case, I really feel it's all right, since the package
is, as such, quite small. But I also like the separate file way for
the reason that if upstream adds another file later, I just append it
there rather than look for it in rules...

Some emacs magic missing after an upgrade! Anyway, I have corrected
this using dch -e.

It's like this: If my understanding is correct, American English
permits a comma before "and", while British English doesn't. Since I
prefer Indian (closer to British) English, I make this change. Someone
can correct me if I am wrong.

 Logapp is a wrapper utility that helps supervise the execution of
 applications that produce heavy console output (e.g. make, CVS, and
 Subversion). It does this by logging, trimming, and coloring each

 the executable that should be monitored; it then starts the
 application and logs all of its console output to a file. The output
 shown in the terminal is preprocessed, e.g. to limit the length of
