This looks interesting for a 216-line program ;). I thought about
writing something similar a few years back but never got around to it.
I should be able to sponsor it if no one else has stepped up yet.

RFS: plplot - Scientific plotting library

2010-02-22 Thread Andrew Ross

Source package name: plplot
License: GNU LGPL version 2

Plplot is a scientific plotting library with support for a wide range of
output devices and bindings to a range of different programming
languages. It is split into a number of packages.

Plplot is current in stable.

http://packages.debian.org/source/lenny/plplot

I am the package maintainer as well as an upstream plplot developer. I
have been co-maintaining the package for some time with Rafael
Laboissiere, however Rafael has retired from Debian. Since I am not a
DD I can't upload packages and so I am looking for a new sponsor.

Plplot has been removed from unstable due to a number of bugs.

I have prepared new packages, which are maintained in a branch of the
upstream svn repository accessible via

svn co https://plplot.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/plplot/branches/v5_9_5_debian
plplot-5.9.5

This updates the packages to version 5.9.5 of plplot and closes most of
the known bugs.

If anyone is able to help with sponsoring uploads I'd be most grateful.

Regards

Andrew

RFS: phing

2010-02-22 Thread nikrou77

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "phing".

* Package name: phing
 Version : 2.4.0-1
 Upstream Author : Hans Lellelid
* URL :  http://phing.info/
* License : LGPG-3
 Section : devel

It builds these binary packages:
phing - PHP based build tool

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix these bugs: 283085

My motivation for maintaining this package is:
I participate in a team to package symfony 1.4. That package is required for symfony 1.4

I used symfony on debian since many years.

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/phing
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main
contrib non-free
- dget http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/phing/phing_2.4.0-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards
Nicolas Roudaire

RFS: libqt4pas - Qt4 interface bindings for Pascal (ping)

2010-02-22 Thread Matthias Klumpp
Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "libqt4pas".

* Package name: libqt4pas
  Version : 2.1Qt4.5.3-1
  Upstream Author : Jan Van Hijfte
* URL :
http://users.telenet.be/Jan.Van.hijfte/qtforfpc/fpcqt4.html
* License : GPL with static linking exception
  Section : libs

It builds these binary packages:
libqt4pas-dev - Development files for Qt4Pas
libqt4pas5 - Qt4 interface bindings

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix bug 554177 and some feature requests of other
packages.

The library makes it possible to compile Qt4 interfaces for FPC/Lazarus
applications like easyMp3Gain or WinFF. Especially KDE users would benefit
from this lib.
I worked with upstream to fix all issues which were in this source code and
there should be no problems anymore which prevents this package from being
uploaded. (Except one: Could someone please look if the lintian-override is
correct?)

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/l/libqt4pas
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main
contrib non-free
- dget
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/l/libqt4pas/libqt4pas_2.1Qt4.5.3-1.dsc

I would be really glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards
 Matthias Klumpp

There is some precedent for upstream maintainers managing their own archive
packages. In fact, having upstream maintain the packages as well can mean
patches are integrated quicker and the maintainer has a much better
knowledge of the code base in case of problems.

As a non-Debian Developer you would be working through a sponsor anyway,
who is expected to do a full review before any upload, so I can't see any
problem with 'checks and balances' as you put it.

the diff.gz has many *.cpp files in, and there are both Makefile.in and
Makefile, configure and configure.in. I have not looked at it in more
detail, but could there be a way that you reduce the length of the diff.gz
to something one can oversee with the eye? The current version has 37522
lines, which given all the *.cpp files in are just too tough for a sponsor
to check through.

A file debian/README.source should explain all the differences done to the
source tree for its inclusion to Debian. I know, as a past NMUer, that the
package already wasn't in the best of all possible shapes when you took it
up. If you could give it some more love to make the diff.gz nice to read,
then this would be real helpful.

Many thanks and regards,

Steffen

postfixadmin: dbconfig/dpkg complains about changed file

2010-02-22 Thread Norman Messtorff
Hi,

I'm using dbconfig to configure the DB in my postfixadmin package.
If I install my package, debconf/dpkg is asking the user to really
overwrite /etc/postfixadmin/config.inc.php.

How can I avoid this? It is true that this file has changed in postinst.
But how should I change that file to include the right DB credentials
without complaining about a changed file? I thought dbconfig is the
right framework.

I've uploaded my package to mentors.d.o to get some more details:
mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/postfixadmin/postfixadmin_2.3.dsc

debian/config:
if [ -f /usr/share/dbconfig-common/dpkg/config ]; then
 # we support mysql and pgsql
 dbc_dbtypes="mysql, pgsql"

 . /usr/share/dbconfig-common/dpkg/config
 dbc_go postfixadmin $@
fi

debian/postinst:
if [ "$1" = "configure" ]; then
 . /usr/share/debconf/confmodule
 db_version 2.0
 dbc_generate_include='template:/etc/postfixadmin/config.inc.php'
 dbc_generate_include_owner='root:www-data'
 dbc_generate_include_perms='640'
 dbc_generate_include_args="-U -o
template_infile=/usr/share/postfixadmin/config.inc.php"
 . /usr/share/dbconfig-common/dpkg/postinst
 dbc_go postfixadmin $@
 db_get postfixadmin/reconfigure-webserver
 servers="$RET"
 restart="$servers"
 linkdestination_apache="../../postfixadmin/apache.conf"
 linkdestination_lighttpd="../../postfixadmin/lighttpd.conf"
 linkname="postfixadmin"
 if [ -e /usr/share/wwwconfig-common/confd-link.sh ]; then
 . /usr/share/wwwconfig-common/confd-link.sh
 else
 . /usr/share/postfixadmin/confd-link.sh
 fi
 . /usr/share/wwwconfig-common/restart.sh
fi

Thanks,

 Norman

Hi, I've had a look at debian/clean file, but it doesn't seem to
work...?
Furthermore, I've read your trac-graphviz package, that makes use of
such a file. I first thought it was working, but you're doing the rm
manually in debian/rules...
