RFS: lessfs

2010-07-09 Thread Falk Hackenberger
Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "lessfs".

* Package name: lessfs
  Version : 1.1.0-1
  Upstream Author : Mark Ruijter
* URL : http://www.lessfs.com/
* License : GPL version 3
  Section : utils

It builds these binary packages:
lessfs - an inline data deduplicating filesystem for fuse

The upload would fix these bugs: 570439

My motivation for maintaining this package is: I need a deduplicating
filesystem for my backup system.

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/l/lessfs
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable
main contrib non-free
- dget
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/l/lessfs/lessfs_1.1.0-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards
 Falk Hackenberger

Nope, it works. You have a typo there:

I would've had tons of emails from angry users asking why it didn't work, if

That's wrong.

It needs 10 testing days in sid, before it migrates to testing, so that
your package could be tested and so that it does not damage testing etc.

Bumping the urgency to high is only valid for fixing release critical

Your package fails to build from source.

First we get this called from the Makefile:

gcc `wx-config --cflags` -Wall -g -Os-c -o
/home/jordan/build/cba/cba-0.3.6/src/gui/cbeam_class.o
/home/jordan/build/cba/cba-0.3.6/src/gui/cbeam_class.cpp
/bin/sh: wx-config: command not found

apt-file does not show a package containing this file, but a quick
google search shows that it is an alternative provided by
libwxgtk2.8-dev. This seems to be mentioned in the upstream README:

"there are makefiles provided in /src for linux,
try make (you will need wxwidgets-dev libraries for the gui)"

In your build-depends you only have:

Build-Depends: debhelper (>= 7)

There is also one lintian warning:

W: cba source: newer-standards-version 3.8.4 (current is 3.8.0)

-

After installing libwxgtk2.8-dev, the package builds.

New packages aren't uploaded to stable at all. Packages are uploaded to
unstable, we gradually assemble them all in testing and then when we make a
release, they all move to stable together.

So, prepare and test your package for unstable and have it sponsored, and
ignore stable. It will reach there eventually.

Can a package be uploaded to unstable before it works correctly in stable ?

2010-07-09 Thread Liang Guo
Dear Mentors,

I'm packaging sunpinyin, a Chinese input method, and Thomas Goirand
 is sponsoring it. sunpinyin can be compiled and packaged in
my Debian unstable environment, but it fails when build in lenny
environment[1]

I build a clean lenny environment, and try to compile and package sunpinyin,
but dpkg-buildpackage failed in build dependency check, sunpinyin need
debhelper (>= 7.0.50~) and quilt (>= 0.0.46-7). debehelper(>=7.0.50~) is added
by dh_make, and quilt (>= 0.0.46-7) is added to eliminate a lintian warning.

But the versions in lenny is debhelper 7.0.15 and quilt 0.46-6, so sunpinyin
failed in build dependency check stage.

The versions in lenny-backports is debhelper 7.4.11~bpo50+1 and quilt
0.46-8~bpo50+1, they fit the build dependency. But is backports.org a part of
debian NOW? should it be used in a clean room environment ?

It looks a little hard to make sunpinyin be compiled and packaged in lenny, so
before I do, I want to know can a package be uploaded to unstable before it
works correctly in stable? If No, I'll fix this problem as soon as possible.

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/c/cba
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main
contrib non-free
- dget http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/c/cba/cba_0.3.6-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards

Unfortunately no downloads are happening (but see my last mail
because of the orig.tar.gz naming issue).

Kind regards

According to this example this works

ersion=3
http://code.google.com/p/freemedforms/downloads/list \
  .*freediams_([.\d]+).*\.tar\.gz.*

for *detecting* that there is actually a new version, but it does not
download from the server. Is this possibly connected to the problem
that upstream names his tarball just orig.tar.gz (I told him not to do
this - but this might take just some more releases ;-))?

Newest version on remote site is 0.4.2., local version is 0.4.0
 => detail already in package directory

Thanks for your help anyway

You'll need a downloadurlmangle too:

version=3
opts=downloadurlmangle=s_^.*name=([^&]*).*_http://freemedforms.googlecode.com/files/$1_
\
http://code.google.com/p/freemedforms/downloads/list \
.*name=freediams_([\d\.]+)\.orig\.tar\.gz.*

I just did it for irqbalance.

cat debian/watch
version=3
http://code.google.com/p/irqbalance/downloads/list \
.*irqbalance-([\d\.]+).tbz2.*

Sounds like Google changed their HTML again, which broke the redirector too:

Help for watch file

2010-07-09 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi,

I wonder how I might get a watch file for code.google.com working.
For FreeDiams I tried

version=3
http://code.google.com/p/freemedforms/downloads/list \
  http://freemedforms.googlecode.com/files/freediams_([.\d]+).*\.tar\.gz

but uscan does not find any matching entry - probably because all this
JavaScript which is now injected in this page. Some time ago the watch
file worked this way.

Any idea?

Kind regards

Andreas.

I can confirm that the solution works and upstream is happy.

Thanks for your help
