Hi, Vadim,

I am not a DD, but maybe my advices will help you to make your package
better:

* it is better to create machine-readable copyright-file according to
DEP-5 http://dep.debian.net/deps/dep5/
* changelog field says, that you want to upload your package to lucid,
but you should change it to "unstable" or "experimental" (you are
uploading to Debian, not directly yo Ubuntu)
* watch-file has a lot of commented code
* source package contains no warnings and errors. But when you use
lintian with "-IE --pedantic" flags after building a package, there
are some of them:
lintian -IE --pedantic cr3_3.0.43-11_i386.changes
P: cr3: no-upstream-changelog
I: cr3: package-contains-empty-directory usr/share/cr3/docs/
I: cr3: package-contains-empty-directory usr/share/cr3/skins/default/
I: cr3: spelling-error-in-binary ./usr/bin/cr3 avaliable available
* code compilation complains about warnings, some of them can be
serious (it is up to you)

Cheers,
Anton Gladky

Thanks for the contribution:

debian/copyright
- Try to follow DEP-5 for debian/copyright, it has picked up steam
lately and is in candidate state [1].
- An important point, the true source code license says "either
version 2 of the License, or (at your option) any later version." but
your debian/copyright says "You are free to distribute this software
under the terms of the GNU General Public License version 2." You need
to say that you are licensed version 2 or later (GPL-2+). The reason
why that is important is that you say " debian/* is licensed under
the GPL version 3, see "/usr/share/common-licenses/GPL-3"."
Techinically, that's a GPL violation (GPL-2 is not compatible with
GPL-3). Also, it's good to have your debian packaging license match
your source code, so I suggest making debian/* GPL-2+.

debian/fgrun.desktop
- I've seen that most "Comments" use active voice and start with a
verb: e.g. "Choose your settings and launch Flight Gear" Can someone
else on mentors point to where that comes from? I can't find a
citation. This is a really minor point, but if you look through your
menus, you will see most major applications do that.

debian/changelog
- you don't need that second bullet point, instead follow DEP-3 [2]

debian/rules
- "dh_auto_configure -- --bindir=/usr/games
--datadir=/usr/share/games" should "--datadir=/usr/share/fgrun" ? what
is in /usr/share/games?

debian/control
- Standards-Version: 3.9.0 should be changed to 3.9.1 (see the policy
document).
- It is strongly suggested to use a VCS [3]

I couldn't get it to build in pbuilder (sid chroot):

g++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.   -I/usr/include
-DLOCALEDIR=\"/usr/share/locale\" -g -O2 -c -o wizard.o wizard.cxx

Re: RFS: libnet-akamai-perl (updated package)

2011-02-07 Thread Ansgar Burchardt
Hi,

some minor nitpicks:

 · debian/control: The package description include an trailing line with
just a dot. I also recommend mentioning the upstream distribution
name, i.e. "Net::Akamai is a Perl module to interact...". This way
it can be found when using `apt-cache search Net::Akamai'.
 · debian/copyright should refer to /usr/share/common-licenses/GPL-1
(instead of the unversioned file); while at it you might want to
   s,Debian GNU/Linux systems,Debian systems, as we have Debian/kFreeBSD
   now as well.
 · debian/libnet-akamain-perl.docs: README is just a copy of the POD
documentation that is also available as a man page. There is no need
   to include one more copy.

I also have to include advertisement for the Debian Perl Group which
makes it very easy to find sponsorship for Perl modules; see [1] for
more information.

Ansgar

You did accidentally revert all upstream changes in
debian/patches/debian-changes-0.14-1. If you add
--abort-on-upstream-changes to debian/source/local-options, dpkg will
give an error instead of generating a patch automatically which prevents
this sort of errors, see also dpkg-source(1).

Your changes look okay, but a bit nitpicking about the changelog:

  + Bumped standard versions 3.9.1
Please mention when no changes were done to comply with the new policy.
It makes reviewing a bit easier :)

  + Set myself as Maintainer
Which is more or less the same as "New maintainer." in the first line :)

  * Switch from override_* targets to files in debian/
There were no override_* targets in d/rules before. The only change I
can see is renaming dirs (docs, manpages) to tintii.dirs.

As the debhelper build-dep was also bumped to 7.0.50, did you maybe
change the package to use override_* targets and then removed them
again?

I never tried to run that explicitly. All I did was to test out whether
all the oauth_* library functions were working well.

Thanks a lot for finding out the bug. I request you to file it in the
BTS so that I could work on it for the next upload.

I will inform the upstream dev about this one, and will work with him
for this change.

Did you ever run into an out of memory condition where the modified
xmalloc_fatal is called?

I did "sabotage" xmalloc to always call xmalloc_fatal using the attached
patch. With this the test suite failed with a segmentation fault. So it
seems the upstream code does *not* handle xmalloc_fatal returning
correctly:

--8<---cut here---start->8---

I noticed you patched src/xmalloc.c to not exit in xmalloc_fatal. Does
the rest of the code handle this change correctly?

Certainly CFLAGS is passed into CCOPT; I guess I confused myself here.
The only thing is if gcc -O2 -O0 does the right thing here[1], which I
am guessing it does (based on -Q -O2 --help=optimizers vs -Q -O2 -O0
- --help=optimizers).

Just uploaded to git.debian.org-figured that NAT blocks SSH traffic and
hence access to git.debian.org as well. Do check it out and let me know any
changes required.

I can switch to git-not so familiar with it but not an issue. The problem is
authorization issues in git-the keys never worked for me and so I use bzr
since it hasn't failed till now :-).

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards

with us? on a side note, the fact it's written in python it's not
something i'd add in the short description ;)
