This is more or less expected, as the uscan(1) manpage says that the
format with a separate downloads list page is HTTP-only. It's unexpected
that it is able to report the latest version though.

I can confirm that I have read the restriction for ftp - but considering
that the version detection worked properly I failed to find a reason why
regexp operations on strings should not work. But the problem is solved
anyway.

Thanks to Bart Martens for the proper solution.

Kind regards

Bug#699824: Updated package

2013-02-14 Thread Benjamin Eltzner
I have updated the package on mentors several times. The now topmost
version is the best compromise I could find to circumvent the following
problem:

When the program is started and finds no sql database in its working
directory, it produces a database via ~5000 sql queries which takes
about 5 minutes. During this procedure the program is stalled. This is
unacceptable and while it would be best to optimize the sql queries and
handle the database creation in a separate thread, I decided for the
time being to create a template database and fetch it in the debian
folder. This increases the installed size of the program by 500 KB
(~10%), which I find acceptable.

Cheers,
Benjamin

Windows.
  * Bug fix for autoupgrade failing on Windows if autoupgrade_dir has been
modified.
  * Bug fix for listing backups created with split_vss=1.
  * Bug fix for restoring uncompressed encrypted backups created with
split_vss=1.
  * Bug fix for making backups with min_file_size and split_vss=1.
  * Bug fix for Debian init do_stop() function from Peter Maloney.
  * Bug fix for resuming backups where a file to patch has already been
hard linked into place. Also get the client to report a more helpful
message if any similar problem happens.
  * Bug fix for signal handler race conditions.
  * Bug fix for the forkchild child not exiting when execv fails.
  * Changed the run_script() code to take an array.
  * Added server_script_pre_notify and server_script_post_notify options.
  * Rework the test script so that it can test Windows clients.
  * Attempt a Windows signal handler to try to shut VSS down nicely on certain
signals, such as Ctrl-C.
  * Include an example server side offsite rsync backup script. This is not
quite working properly, but it may still be useful.
  * Big fix to stop Windows going to sleep during a backup, from Avi Rozen.

Bug#699776: RFS: pycdio/0.18-1 [ITP]

2013-02-14 Thread Benjamin Eltzner
I patched some bugs in the source. lintian4python now only reports one
warning, which in my opinion is simply wrong. I forwarded the changes to
upstream and they have been accepted. I hope the FTBFS is solved with
change of build-deps to python-all-dev. The new package version is
topmost at

http://mentors.debian.net/package/pycdio

The remaining problem is the missing full license text of the GPL3 in
the upstream tarball. This problem will be fixed in upcoming upstream
releases. For the present package I included a COPYING file in the
debian directory. Is that sufficient, do I have to do more or is it
imperative that the publicly released upstream tarball includes the full
license text?

Best, Benjamin Eltzner

RFR: python-qrcode -- native python module to generate QR codes

2013-02-14 Thread Cornelius Kölbel
Hello,

I created and uploaded a debian package with a python module:

 * Package name: qrcode
   Version : 2.4.2-1
Upstream Author : Lincoln Loop i...@lincolnloop.com
 * URL : https://github.com/lincolnloop/python-qrcode
 * License : BSD (2 clause) MIT/X11 (BSD like)
   Section : python

  It builds those binary packages:

python-qrcode - QR Code image generator

The package and further information can be accessed here.

  http://mentors.debian.net/package/qrcode

I would be happy about any feedback and reviews.

In the long run I am also looking for a sponsor.

About the package:

I know that debian already contains the python-qrencode module,
which could do the same.
But the qrencode module needs a C library to be compiled.
Thus, if you have a python application that will not only run
on debian but probably also on other distributions, or will be
installed from python source (pypi), it is easier to use qrcode
the qrencode, since there is no C compilation process involved
in installing this python modules from the source.

Thanks a lot and kind regards
Cornelius

Bug#700567: RFS: burp/1.3.24-1

2013-02-14 Thread Anton Gladky
Hello,

thanks for maintaining this package, but I have some notes/questions:

1) Please, use compat-level 9, your package builds in this case fine and
removes hardening-warnings from lintian.

2) Changelog is the mess:
a) A lot of UNRELEASED-words.
b) Warnings due to bad formatting (use lintian for check).
c) The last version in Debian is 1.3.8-1, but I cannot find it in
changelog. Moreover there are a lot of versions, which have never been
uploaded in Debian (1.3.18-1, for example). They should not be there.
d) A lot of items in changelog, which should be in upstream-changelog,
but not in Debian one. Please, move them to a appropriate file.
Debian-changelog should contain only the Debian-stuff and changes.

3) Review your copyright-file according to a DEP-5. There are a lot of
unneeded words. This file should be short and machine-readable.

4) Where is it possible to download the upstream-tarball of this
version? It is necessary to check md5-sums.

5) It is better to separate debian-folder and upstream-files and
maintain debian-stuff somewhere collab-maintain or in a group. It is
easier for reviewers/maintainers/DDs to do their job. But it is IMHO,
Actually, why VCS-browser link is commented?

The package seems in a good shape, but it really needs to be fixed
before uploading. Most of stuff is easy to fix.

Please, consider moving debian-stuff to a common place for easier
maintenance and collaboration.

Cheers,

Anton

Bug#699824: Updated package

2013-02-14 Thread Anton Gladky
Hello Benjamin,

some notes on your package:

1) Please, use DEP-3 for patches, just add at least short Description,
Author and Last-Update fields.

2) Where is it possible to download a tar.gz, which is shipped with the
package?

3) Please, use VCS for maintaining your package. You can do it on
collab-maintain or in one of available teams. It will be easier to
maintain/review your package, using VCS.

4) Why do you patch tipp10.desktop, if you have one more desktop-file in
debian-folder?

5) Add debian/watch file.

6) You have html-documentation, it should have be indicated in
corresponding doc-base files.

7) Add a manpage, at least a short one, describing the minimal
functionality.

8) Can you use the name /usr/bin/tipp10 instead of /usr/bin/tipp10launcher?

9) Use --parallel option in debian/rules for faster buildings on
many-cores build-machines.

10) Use lintian over .changes file for controlling your package.

Bug#699824: Updated package

2013-02-14 Thread Benjamin Eltzner
Hi Anton,

thank you for your comments.

1,3,6,7,8,9,10) Can do.

2) The source code is not distributed as .tar.gz archive but as .zip
archive by upstream. The .zip archive is available at
http://www.tipp10.com/en/download/tipp10_source_v2-1-0.zip

4) That is a mistake, I had decided against the desktop file in debian
directory but forgot to remove it.

5) I tried hard to add a watch file, but due to the non-standard form of
source code distribution, my tinkering lead nowhere. I will try harder
as soon as I have time.

11) The only alternatives I see to shipping the binary file are:
a) Patch to skip the initialization of the database at first program
start. This will probably result in the intelligent word sequencing
not working.
b) Patch to enhance performance of database initialization, handling
database initialization in a separate thread and providing a lock on the
database while initialization. This would be very hard work for me and
probably take quite some time.

What do you suggest?

 1) Please, use DEP-3 for patches, just add at least short
 Description, Author and Last-Update fields.

Relevant applications are now using private directory to store temporary files.
As far as I can see, this solves the issue.

Also, it would be good if the default for --tmpdir was not hardcoded /tmp/,
 but TMPDIR was honored instead.

I added a patch for this as part of the solution of the fst_test problem. If
TMPDIR is set it is used as default tmpdir, otherwise /tmp is used.

Bests,
Giulio.
