 Not specifically. The package just has to meet the usual Debian requirements.

 Some Ubuntu packages will do that with just about no work, others will
 need some more fettling as they tend to be more tolerant of
 bodgification than we are :-)

What 'bodgification' means?

Bug#749213: RFS: qtop/2.2.3-2 [ITP]

2014-05-25 Thread Hugo Lefeuvre
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: wishlist

 Dear mentors,

 I am looking for a sponsor for my package qtop

Package name: qtop
Version : 2.2.3-2
Upstream Author : Hugo Pereira Da Costa hugo.pere...@free.fr
URL : http://hugo.pereira.free.fr/software/
License : GPL2
Programming lang: C++ / Qt5
Section : admin

 It builds this binary package:

qtop - windowed version of the console top command

 To access further information about this package, please visit the following
URL:

http://mentors.debian.net/package/qtop

 Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

dget -x http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/q/qtop/qtop_2.2.3-2.dsc

 More information about top can be obtained from Hugo Pereira's website:

http://hugo.pereira.free.fr/

 I've already asked for a sponsorship, but the name of the package was
 buggy. I've also made a patch to change the name of the software from
 'Top' to 'qtop'.

qtop (2.2.3-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/name.patch:
- Changes the name of the binary from Top to qtop.

 - debian/copyright: line 67 seems to be out of place (move to line 64?)
 - This is entirely up to you, but you could avoid
 possible-gpl-code-linked-with-openssl entirely if you chose to license
 debian/* under GPL-2+ with the openssl exception clause (instead of
 just plain GPL-2+). Also, as debian/* is the only thing that's
 GPL-licensed in the entire package, you could also just use the same
 license as the rest of upstream's source (3-clause BSD). Assuming you
 deliberately chose to license your packaging as GPL-2+, just be
 careful of including any non-trivial patches in debian/patches/*, as
 that could cause you to run into conflict with
 possible-gpl-code-linked-with-openssl.
 Ok. I've set set debian/* also under BSD-3-clauses

 - A lot of your patches have incomplete DEP-3 headers (it looks like
 you've just copied and pasted from a template). Don't forget to
 forward your patches upstream if possible.
 I've already mailed with the upstream - maintainer and asked how he
 wants to get the patches. Therefor some headers are incomplete.

 Incomplete DEP-3 header removed.

 - If you're going to install systemd service files, please build-dep
 on dh-systemd and put dh $@ --with systemd in

Hi guys! It would be nice if someone could upload hashalot for me
(a tool for securely reading a passphrase). This upload fixes a must
requirement of the policy.

The package can be dgetted from:
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/h/hashalot/hashalot_0.3-6.dsc

The changelog is:
  * Document that only the first line of input is hashed, for people who
are looking for a general purpose hasher. Closes: #544165.
  * Fix warnings from man.
  * Replace debian/rules with dh.
  * Use DEP-5 copyright format.
  * Drop useless README and ancient NEWS.Debian.
  * Upgrade the VCS to git.
+ ... including Vcs- fields (closes: #720265).
  * Upgrade to policy 3.9.5 (build-{arch,indep}), debhelper 9 (hardening).

The big change here is changing old style packaging to a dh two-liner.
Thus, it's probably easier to review this upload as a new package -- but
thanks to dh, that's quite minimal work.

Meow!

A minor issue: your lintian override isn't actually being installed
(see dh_lintian(1) for the correct place to dump your override file in
debian/). It doesn't really matter though (what counts is that you've
added an explanation in debian/copyright, of course).

Just out of curiousity, since your diff includes patches, why not use
quilt / source format 3.0 (quilt) (you've taken the effort to
modernize everything else in your packaging, after all)? It's entirely
up to you, but it does make it easier for others to review your
patches, for one thing.

Anyways, built, signed, and uploaded; thanks for your contribution to Debian!

Vincent---End Message---
