 Hi Pierangelo,

I saw your package in mentors.debian.org and it has several Lintian
 messages.

IMHO, to get a sponsor you must, at least, clear your package removing
 all possible messages.

 Regards,

 Eriberto

emacspeak - piuparts and gnupg

2014-08-30 Thread Paul Gevers
Hi all,

I am trying to investigate why emacspeak has a piuparts purge failure
[1]. It fails because there are files in /root/.gnupg/. As emacspeak
doesn't depend on gnupg and doesn't do anything of itself with gnupg, I
don't have a clear picture of where to start. It seems that emacspeak is
the only package that has this error, so either other packages are
working around it, or it is indeed something peculiar of emacspeak.

Does anybody have a hint of where and how to start investigating? I
expect this happens during postinst or *rm, so I could add some
debugging output to a testing package and check when the files appear,
but maybe somebody already knows better, which would save some time.

Paul

The O/ITA for this is #741872 (I have updated the changelog)
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=741872

The lintian pedantic 'no-upstream-changelog' looks to be a false positive
as upstream changes are documented in the installed README.

The Lintian tag says: If upstream provides a changelog, it should be
accessible as /usr/share/doc/pkg/changelog.gz. So I guess you should
install this specific README file (in which upstream records its
changes) as /usr/share/doc/tkinfo/changelog.gz.

Best wishes,

Hi Martino,

On Fri, Aug 29, 2014 at 2:03 AM, Martino Dell'Ambrogio ti...@tillo.ch wrote:
 Package: sponsorship-requests

 Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package libtorrent-rasterbar on
 wheezy-backports.

This is a straightforward rebuild of the current testing package.
 The reason for wanting libtorrent-rasterbar 0.16.x (libtorrent-rasterbar7,
python-libtorrent...) on the current stable is that it fixes a crash bug
involving OpenSSL and encrypted transfers for any bittorrent client
 depending on the library.

If your intent for providing this backport is to fix a bug in stable,
I strongly recommend that you instead fix it in stable proper, i.e.
prepare a minimal diff against the package in wheezy and file a wheezy
proposed update request against the release.debian.org pseudo-package
with reportbug (see devref 5.5.1 [1] for more details). Once the
release team approves of the debdiff, you can then request a sponsor
here as well (or contact the maintainers/uploaders to see if they'd be
interested in fixing the bug in wheezy themselves).

Regards,
Vincent
