Bug#766148: RFS: sleepenh/1.3.2 [ITA]

2014-10-21 Thread Nicolas Schier
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: normal

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package sleepenh

 * Package name: sleepenh
   Version : 1.3.2
   Upstream Author : was: Pedro Zorzenon Neto p...@debian.org, now: native
package
 * License : GPL-2
   Section : utils

It builds those binary packages:

  sleepenh - Sleep until a given date with subsecond resolution

To access further information about this package, please visit the following
URL:

http://mentors.debian.net/package/sleepenh

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/s/sleepenh/sleepenh_1.3.2.dsc

Changes since the last upload:

  * Use default debian/rules
  * Add missing misc dependency to debian/control
  * Set package source format to 3.0 (native); as agreed with original
upstream author (Pedro), sleepenh is not a native Debian package
  * Makefile: use Debian compiler flags
  * Makefile: use GNU install
  * Update several Debian control files
  * Bump to Debian Standards version 3.9.6
  * New maintainer (Closes: #759732).

 Nicolas Schier

retitle 758538 RFS: pysdl2/0.9.3+dfsg2-1 [ITP] -- Python wrapper around SDL2
using ctypes
thanks

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package pysdl2

 * Package name: pysdl2
   Version : 0.9.3+dfsg2-1
   Upstream Author : Marcus von Appen mar...@sysfault.org
 * URL : https://bitbucket.org/marcusva/py-sdl2
 * License : CC0 or ZLIB
   Section : python

 It builds those binary packages:

  pysdl2-doc - Python bindings to the SDL2 C-library - documentation
  python-sdl2 - Python bindings to the SDL2 C-library (Python 2 build)
  python3-sdl2 - Python bindings to the SDL2 C-library (Python 3 build)

To access further information about this package, please visit the following
URL:

 http://mentors.debian.net/package/pysdl2

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

   dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/pysdl2/pysdl2_0.9.3+dfsg2-1.dsc

More information about PySDL2 can be obtained from
https://bitbucket.org/marcusva/py-sdl2 .

Changes since the last upload:

  * New dfsg tarball without doc/python.inv
  * Upgraded to policy 3.9.6, no changes required
  * debian/control:
- Add Recommends dependency *-numpy for faster pixelaccess
  * debian/copyright:
- Adjust license comment to fully state that the CC0 Public Domain
  Dedication is the preferred dedication and ZLIB is just a fallback License
  * debian/prune-tarball.sh:
- Drop doc/python.inv which isn't in the preferred form for modifications
and
  not used during the build
  * debian/README.source:
- Clarify why doc/python.inv was removed from the upstream tarball

A diff to the previous upload is attached.

Special thanks to Thorsten Alteholz for finding the problem in
debian/prune-tarball.sh which caused an inclusion of doc/python.inv.

I'm currently working on the packaging of fw4spl (an open source framework)

 The following packages have unmet dependencies:

My package needs libvxl-dev, which needs libavifile-0.7-dev, but I don't
understand why... libavi seems available in Testing.

Hoping someone will have an idea...

Thank you for your help,

dump1090: Suggestions/comments for packaging internal web interface.

2014-10-21 Thread Matthew Ernisse
Hello All,
I'm currently working on packaging dump1090[1] which happens
to have a jQuery/jQuery-UI based web interface. Upstream leans
on Google's CDN to provide the various JS libraries which is not
acceptable in a packaged form. I spent some time patching the internal
HTTP server to support large(ish) files but due to the architecture of
the network code (it opens all sockets with O_NONBLOCK) it periodically
throws EWOULDBLOCK while sending HTTP replies. This leaves me with the
question as to the best way to 'fix' this for inclusion into Debian.

I don't particularly want to re-architect the network code and
frankly having yet another daemon that speaks HTTP as a 'side effect'
seems less than ideal. My current thinking is to drop sample apache and
lighttpd configs into /usr/share/dump1090/examples and include a section
in the README with instructions on enabling the web interface in a
'real' httpd.

I am hoping someone has experienced a similar situation and
would be able to point me in the right direction or at least affirm that
this is a reasonable and correct way to proceed.

Thanks,
Matt

Bug#765883: RFS: avce00/2.0.0-5

2014-10-21 Thread Johan Van de Wauw
After uploading the package (and filing this RFS) I noticed that the
version number was much higher than in wheezy. It appeared that there
were two versions mentioned in the changelog in the repository that
didn't make their way to unstable in the end.
I've therefore adjusted the version number to 2.0.0-3

dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/a/avce00/avce00_2.0.0-3.dsc
The full changelog, including the other changes:
  [ Johan Van de Wauw ]
  * Move to debhelper 9
  * Enable hardening when compiling/linking
  * Bump standards version, fix vcs links (cme fix dpkg-control)
  * Remove duplicate changelog
  * Add doc-base
  * Add myself to uploaders

  [ Francesco Paolo Lovergine ]
  * Fixed short and long descriptions to make lintian happy.
  * Policy bumped to 3.8.3.
  * Debhelper level set to 7. Now using dh_prep.
  * Removed Jean-Denis Giguere among Uploaders.
  * Moved to source format 3.0
  * Repository moved to git and Vcs-* changed in debian/control.
  * Debhelper level set to 8. No changes required.
  * Policy bumped to 3.9.1. No changes required.
  * Added ${misc:Depends} by dh use.
  * Make lintian happy about debian-rules-ignores-make-clean-error.
  * Fixed extended-description-line-too-long lintian warning.

Package with CMAKE based C library

2014-10-21 Thread Werner Detter
Hi everybody,

I want to package a library, developed in C (libcmime) which is based on cmake.
If I'm
right - there should be

a) the main package libcmime
/usr/lib/libcmime.so.0.1 (symlink to the next one)
/usr/lib/libcmime.so.0.1.14

b) the dev package libcmime-dev
/usr/lib/libcmime.so (symlink to 0.1.19)
/usr/include/cmime/*.h
/usr/lib/pkgconfig/cmime.pc

As this package is the first one with a C library, based on CMAKE for me it
would be great if
anyone could point me to a similar package to stud debian/rules

Thanks and cheers,
Werner

Re: Package with CMAKE based C library

2014-10-21 Thread ki7mt

Hi Werner,

I just finished working up a CMAKE package that has it's own install
target and creates the appropriate directories, manpages etc. I used the
basic dh_* Makefile, and did a couple overrides to account for things
that were performed by the CMakeLists.txt file.

It really depends on what the CMAKE project does as to what your rules
file will end up looking like. This particular project accounts for
Debian builds, as well as Mac OSX and RPM. I used my own version of the
control file though. Im not sure I've done this 100% correct, but It's
building without any Lintian errors or warnings.

You can also use CDBS, but I found it just as easy to use dh_*. I'm sure
the the Debian Mentors can get you sorted out on this. Maybe they can
help me out as well, as I could be out in left field here :-)

Rules File -- I added the comments just so i could see it easy in the
build log

Re: Package with CMAKE based C library

2014-10-21 Thread Werner Detter
Hi KI7MT,
hi everybody

thanks for your reply - I'm currently building the package with cdbs,
debian/rules
right now implements:

#!/usr/bin/make -f
include /usr/share/cdbs/1/rules/debhelper.mk
#include /usr/share/cdbs/1/rules/patchsys-quilt.mk
include /usr/share/cdbs/1/class/cmake.mk
#export DH_VERBOSE = 1

binary-post-install/%::
dh_installchangelogs CHANGELOG

It build's the package. So far, so good. But I'm still wondering what
needs to be done to split the package into libcmime and libcmime-dev :)

In other words: how do i tell the packaging process to create two packages and
to put:

/usr/lib/libcmime.so.0.1
/usr/lib/libcmime.so.0.1.14

into the main package, and

/usr/lib/libcmime.so (symlink to 0.1.14)
/usr/include/cmime/*.h
/usr/lib/pkgconfig/cmime.pc

into the -dev package

Cheers,
Werner

Bug#765179: RFS: yubikey-neo-manager/0.2.2-1 [ITP] -- YubiKey NEO management graphical user interface

My recent reviews have been to test Harlan's ability to review packages.
If he wants to review this one too, I can check his review again.

 Thanks -- we are trying to sort this out, either we do something in the
 Debian packaging or we do it upstream -- but the latter requires some
 thinking since the package is cross-platform (Windows, Mac, GNU).

Generally icons are done upstream.

 No idea how to resolve this -- I suppose libloader.py is some external
 file we copie in, maybe there are Debian-ified versions of it. Dain?
 Not sure why this package have to hardcode or read ld.so.conf at
 all.

It is dynamically loading shared libraries, seems to need to know where
to find those libraries..

 It is common to ship generated files in tarballs, to avoid forcing
 users to have a lot of tools available. Agree with removing them from
 git though, Dain?

Users generally use binary packages, not source packages. Anyone willing
to work with the source should be willing to install the relevant tools.

  DEFAULT_KEY does not look like something that should be included?

 Why not? Earlier NEOs had that key as the default (it is the common
 Visa/Mastercard standard key), although modern NEOs have randomized
 keys.

It wasn't clear to me if this was an example key or a private key or
what. Having every device contain the same private key seems bad, I
wonder if it would be a good idea to recall these devices and replace
them with ones containing random keys.

 ykneo-oath and ykneo-openpgp are free software, but they are not
 required for operation and most people will not want or need them.

Is it possible to build them using OpenJDK? I took a look and the Java
Card stuff seems to be proprietary.

 Yeah, it is mostly an example and reminder for the people working with
 the packaging.

Fair enough.

On Wed, 2014-10-15 at 14:17 +0200, Dain Nilsson wrote:

 Yes, this code is copied from an external source, I'm not entirely
 sure why it does some things it does, but it seems to work pretty well
 and I'm not sure we have the resources to be testing this on a vast
 number of different distros, so I've refrained from making any changes
 to this file. I'll open an issue for the upstream package regarding
 this.

If libloader.py is unmodified, it might be best to package that
separately, which upstream does it come from?

 The menu icon is XPM now, I thought Debian required these to be XPM?
 If not then I agree that PNG is better. As for the upstream build
 system installing the man page, .desktop file and icons, I'm not sure
 the upstream build system has a good way of doing this. I'll open
 another issue for this nonetheless.

In Debian there are two menu systems:

The Debian menu, it requires XPM and is not shown by most desktops in
Debian. It is the older of the two menu systems and Debian-specific.

The Freedesktop menu, it allows PNG, XPM, SVG and is shown by modern
desktops in Debian but not window managers and older things. It is the
newer of the two menu systems and is cross-distro.

 Other than subprocess being newer there's no real reason not to use
 os.system, but then again, there's no reason not so use it, so I'll
 open an issue for this as well.

subprocess isn't vulnerable to shell metacharacter injection attacks,
os.system (and other things in python) is because it uses a shell.
