But for uscan to be sane, I bumped it to 1.55.0 instead, and ran the
ruby-team/meta script

Most stuff looks good, except for some failures which were already
failing, and have not got much to do with this bump

The weird thing being packer FTBFS without the bump as well as with the
bump, while it looks more or less OK building on the archive -- maybe a
local problem?
Anyways, on good testing this bump looks harmless, hence uploaded

I guess GCC_PLUGIN_OPTION (which is meant to be an Autoconf/m4 macro) is
not defined in this case for some reason, so it's passed verbatim into
the configure script by Autoconf and later misinterpreted by the shell
as a function definition.  Try to find out why it (and PLUGIN_OPTION)
isn't defined in the failing case; it should be provided by
config/gcc-plugin.m4, I think.
