Bug#1034282: RFS: ukui-app-widget/1.0.1-1 [ITP] -- ukui app widget test

2023-07-21 Thread handsome_feng
Hi, Boyuan,

Sorry for this rookie, stupid mistake, Bowen only checked the results of
'lintian' and 'licensecheck -r' when reviewing the package, not the other
parts, including the incorrect copyright statement.
And I also confirmed the problem with the upstream author, when she took over
the code, the headers of some files in QtSingleApplication have been
accidentally blanked out, and she added the company's copyrights without
checking in order to deal with the "No copyright Unknow" warnings.
The problem has been fixed upstream, and we'll improve the guidebook and
training to avoid this kind of problem from occurring again.

> Your package embeds multiple copies of QtSimpleApplication. This is not a good
> practice at all. Can you work with upstream to only include one copy?

This is fixed upstream.

> Besides, I don't understand upstream commit 2e15e13. Can you explain why you
> revert version 4.x to 1.0.1?

Yes, It's no need to revert version 4.x to 1.0.1, we will upload the fixed
version to mentors later.

I did not see any fix on this issue. You are claiming that QtSingleApplication
to be copyrighted by Kylin Company, which is wrong and very unacceptable
because the original author's information as shown at
https://github.com/qtproject/qt-solutions/tree/master/qtsingleapplication/src
was wrongfully stripped
in
https://gitee.com/openkylin/ukui-app-widget/commit/ed94e7233e3ca37256b5cee166f82a6feba5179c
. This is a red flag of being unprofessional when working in OSS community.
Can you work with upstream to correct this issue?

The git commit author of ed94e723 is CC-ed as well.

Besides, I don't understand upstream commit 2e15e13. Can you explain why you
revert version 4.x to 1.0.1?

Let's handle ukui-app-widget first.

OK, thank you for your quick feedback.
If the implementation is fundamentally flawed then I think I'll just leave
it.
Thank you for the links - I'll follow that approach if I try to add another
package in the future.

Kind regards,
Aidan Gallagher

I don't think this works, because Debian packages don't include the
upstream Git repo. The implementation (modifying debian/control) is also
very wrong. So I'm closing this RFS and if you come with an implementation
that actually works you should ask for feedback on it before asking for
sponsorship.

You were meant to follow https://mentors.debian.net/intro-maintainers/ and
upload your package to mentors.debian.net.
Also as a part of that guide you would file an ITP bug report and would get
the same feedback on this software before starting to work on the packaging for
it.--- End Message ---
