The directory was removed and is now distributed as extra tarball. But
we did not package those extra icons (because they overwrite the
existing icons), so it is no loss.

shiki-colors-murrine is the Murrine version and shiki-colors is the
Clearlooks version. Murrine is faster and recommended for everyone who
has Murrine 0.90.3 or newer. So yes, shiki-colors is replaced by
shiki-colors-murrine.

Both are changed in current DEP 5 proposal [1]. I will update the
copyright header section to reflect it.

I searched for the email addresses, but I do not found one. Victor, do
you have the email addresses?

COPYING only says, that it is GPL-2. It does not specify if it is "v2
only" or "v2 or later". So we should assume "v2 only".

Same as in arc-colors.

COPYING only says, that it is GPL-3. It does not specify if it is "v3
only" or "v3 or later". Victor, do you allow later versions of GPL?

Yes, I will change it.

Same as in arc-colors.

They are copied from gnome-icon-theme. I will add 2002-2008 to all of
them.

I do not know if it is possible. Victor, do you know, which files are
based on gnome-icon-theme files?

Same again. Victor, can you list them?

Ok, I will remove it.

This sounds good. Only shiki-colors can be licensed under GPL-3 or GPL-3
+. The other packages must be GPL-2 only, because they are based on
packages which are either GPL-2 only or it is unclear if later versions
are allowed.
Victor, can you add these information to the AUTHORS file? Either use
one sentence like "This package is licensed under GNU General Public
License version 3, or (at your option) any later version." or (better)
use the three paragraphs template shown at the end of the license under
"How to Apply These Terms to Your New Programs".

Like Victor wrote, almost all of the icons are derived from Tango/GNOME
sources. So we do not have to list them separately.

The pure copy of the GPL-2 means, that it is licensed under GPL-2. This
paragraph is a recommendation.

The main copyright rule: If you are unsure, assume the worst case.

It's sad, that public domain does not exists in Germany, but we can use

For nuno "Arc-*.png" would be the correct pattern? Which files are the

The package is maintained in git. These changes are cherry-picked.
Florian, how about using a patch system?

Florian, I think that is your task. Is that correct, that the Debian
package copyright is also owned by the XMMS2 Team?

Do you have an example how to seperate it.

That was copied from the template.

I have added now the upstream changelog. To fix the "long description
too short" we can add the generic block

XMMS2 is a redesign of the XMMS music player. It features a client-server
model, allowing multiple (even simultaneous!) user interfaces, both textual
and graphical. All common audio formats are supported using plugins. On top of
this, there is a flexible media library to organize your music.

Re: RFS: xmms2 (updated package)

2009-06-06 Thread Benjamin Drung
Dear mentors,

I have updated the xmms2 package. Here you can find the dsc file:
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/x/xmms2/xmms2_0.6DrMattDestruction-2.dsc
I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

The package is not lintian free, but very improved compared to version
0.6DrMattDestruction-1. Here are the remaining issues (lintian -iIv
--pedantic):

P: xmms2 source: direct-changes-in-diff-but-no-patch-system .gitignore
and 5 more

As written before, we use git instead of patches to track changes.

W: binary-without-manpage

I have filed an upstream bugreport for that.

I: libxmmsclient5: no-symbols-control-file usr/lib/libxmmsclient.so.5.0.0
N:
N:Although the package includes a shared library, the package does not
N:have a symbols control file.
N:
N:dpkg can use symbols files in order to generate more accurate library
N:dependencies for applications, based on the symbols from the library
N:that are actually used by the application.
N:
N:Refer to the dpkg-gensymbols(1) manual page and
N:http://wiki.debian.org/UsingSymbolsFiles for details.
N:
N:Severity: wishlist, Certainty: certain

I have no idea, neither why I get this, nor how to fix it.
debian/libxmmsclient5/DEBIAN/shlibs was created and contains
"libxmmsclient 5 libxmmsclient5 (>= 0.6DrMattDestruction)". So why is
lintian complaining?

The package is lintian clean.

The upload would fix these bugs: 510375

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:

- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main
contrib non-free
- dget

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards

I fixed debhelper-overrides-need-versioned-build-depends and bumped the
Standards-Version to 3.8.3.

Next lap. :)

1) You might want to use install-xpi with --remove-license-files to get
rid of W: xul-ext-downloadstatusbar: extra-license-file
usr/share/xul-ext/downloadstatusbar/license.txt

2) You use tabs and spaces in debian/copyright. Please get rid of the
tabs.

3) Line 31 of d/copyright takes more than 80 characters. Please wrap it
earlier.

4) "License: MPL" is not correct. It should list the alternatives too.

5) d/copyright: The name is probably more downloadstatusbar than
xul-ext-downloadstatusbar.

6) The long license block should use deb822 (like the long description).

IANADD yet. Same comments as for downloadstatusbar apply here too.

1) The license for debian/* is somehow broken (License is missing).

2) The long description in debian/control shouldn't start with ".".

Your debian/rules could even be more shorten with --buildsystem=xul_ext.
With the build system you need to only override dh_auto_install.

I am willing to review the technical part of Mozilla extensions, because
the current form of mozilla-devscripts is my fault. ;)

I couldn't find it either. You should file an ITP or RFP. Does the
license match Debian's requirements?

That's only one benefit of having it packaged. :)

Re: [Pkg-mozext-maintainers] RF[CS]: ubiquity (mozilla extension) in Debian

I did a quick review:

1) Please rename the source package to ubiquity-extension (or
xul-ext-ubiquity). We don't want to have mozilla in the name any more
(all extension of our team [1] have no mozilla in it) and all extensions
that have a conflicting source name uses -extension as prefix:
* imap-acl-extension
* notify-extension
* sage-extension

2) You use features of mozilla-devscripts 0.22 [2]. Please adjust the
Build-Depends.

3) "${xpi:Recommends} (>= 3.6)" doesn't work, because multiple items
could be generated. If you want versioned Recommends, mozilla-devscripts
needs to be adjusted.

4) Don't rely on the installation destination of install-xpi (run by
dh_auto_install). It may change in the future. Run "install-xpi
-i /usr/share/xul-ext/$(NAME) [...]" instead of dh_auto_install.

5) You may be interested in xpi-repack to get rid of the get-orig-source
rule (more details in the man page).

It depends on your build system (Debian vs Ubuntu) and on the
install.xpi file. For example, adblock-plus has "iceweasel | icedove |
iceape | conkeror" in Recommends. Don't rely that it will always be one
item. Use "Recommends: iceweasel (>= 3.6), ${xpi:Recommends}" or file a
wishlist bug against mozilla-devscripts.

Yes, it would at least generate "firefox | abrowser".

IANADD yet, but here's my review:

1) The name: Do we need "-extension" in the source name? Is there an
other project which could conflict? What's with the upstream name
"addressbooks-synchronizer"?

2) Please add ${xpi:Depends} to Depends (refer to mozilla-devscripts
0.25)

3) Please mention the upstream names for Icedove and Iceape (at least in
the long description)

4) Some trailing spaces. Run 'wrap-and-sort' (from ubuntu-dev-tools in
experimental) to get rid of them.

5) Change "dh ... $@" to "dh $@ ..." in debian/rules (check debhelper
changelog)

6) Don't rely on the installation directory. The installation directory
depends on the version of mozilla-devscripts. You have to either specify
the location explicitly or (better) use install-xpi with
--remove-license-files.

Lintian complains:

E: pdnsd:
init.d-script-sourcing-without-test /etc/init.d/pdnsd:28 /etc/default/rcS

* You can remove the comments and empty lines from debian/watch

* Not all patches have a header in DEP-3 form.
