Bug#712843: RFS: liboauth/1.0.1-1

2013-06-20 Thread Bilal Akhtar
It's already set to >=8.1.3 which is the lowest version providing a compat
level of 9. Lintian docs:

> Note if you are using a compat level, which is marked as experimental,
such as compat 9 in debhelper 8.1.3, then please override this tag.

Anyway, I changed the version to 9 now that version 9 of debhelper is
ubiquitous

I never tried to run that explicitly. All I did was to test out whether
all the oauth_* library functions were working well.

Thanks a lot for finding out the bug. I request you to file it in the
BTS so that I could work on it for the next upload.

I will inform the upstream dev about this one, and will work with him
for this change.

Thanks again,

Now, you just managed to anger me by doing this.

First, what is the harm in adding these files to debian/conffiles?
The only difference from the earlier package would be:

1) These files would be removed only on purge.
2) There would be no need of a postrm file.

This was the needed behavior, and this approach was the Debian-policy
recommended way of getting the job done.

Secondly, if I had tagged the bug with pending, then I was the person
who was supposed to fix the bug! And, you just got the thing NMUed
without any consent from me.

Sorry if my mail was too harsh.

FYI its /usr/lib/ . And the package does use those files as conffiles
(see the comment on the postrm file which I am removing in this NMU).

Since this is a configuration file, it would be removed on purge by dpkg
as its now recognized as a conffile by dpkg.

Robert acknowledged me on Freenode IRC. If this bugfix doesn't seem
worth NMUing then we may leave it to the maintainer who may then include
this patch while uploading a new upstream version.

RFS: liboauth (Fixed all errors pointed out by others)

2010-10-21 Thread Bilal Akhtar
Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "liboauth".

* Package name: liboauth
  Version : 0.9.1-1
  Upstream Author : Robin Gareus
* URL : http://liboauth.sourceforge.net/
* License : MIT
  Section : libs

It builds these binary packages:
liboauth-dev - C library for implementing OAuth 1.0 (development files)
liboauth0 - C library for implementing OAuth

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix these bugs: 581601

My motivation for maintaining this package is: This is the ONLY C
library that allows application to use the OAuth specification. OAuth is
an authentication system that clients can use to communicate with
websites like Twitter and Facebook. Recently, Twitter dropped support
for Basic Auth and now all apps are forced to use OAuth.

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/l/liboauth
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable
main contrib non-free
- dget
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/l/liboauth/liboauth_0.9.1-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards
 Bilal Akhtar

RFS: (NMU) testrepository

2010-10-20 Thread Bilal Akhtar
Hi all,
I am looking for a sponsor of an NMU of package testrepository. The
debdiff is at
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=15;filename=check.debdiff;att=1;bug=576957

. The new version would be 0.0.4-1.1 and I have tested it. The
maintainer has allowed for an NMU.

I request someone to kindly sponsor this change of mine.

Bilal Akhtar.

Re: RFS: notorious-women

2010-06-17 Thread Bilal Akhtar
Sorry for the damage caused by my message about the package being
"sexist".

I just wished to point out this to you, since I very well know that, in
order to get packages accepted in Debian, the package name must be
well-formed. Just take the case of my package gnome-media-player. I
submitted the RFS two months ago, and got a large number of replies,
everyone saying "How can you use this package name? It is *not* the
official GNOME's Media Player (Totem Is) and so you should change the
package name." No one ever seemed to care even after I said that the
package is already in Ubuntu ( proof at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-media-player ). I was finally
forced to get the package into Ubuntu and give up Debian (the upstream
advised this).

If package names matter so much, then I felt like this package might
also not get accepted into the archives. Sorry for being harsh in my
comments. Will take care of it from next time onwards.

Cheers,
Bilal Akhtar

Robin,
Thanks for solving all those issues.
Looks like its all set to package. This is where I come in. I will get
the package into Debian. I am debianizing the new upstream release and
shall soon post an updated RFS here with new package on
mentors.debian.net (probably in a week).

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "liboauth".

Now, the GPL licensed files are not linked.

histwi - A program for Twitter account management

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix these bugs: 582359

My motivation for maintaining this package is: I saw an

package, so worked on it.

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

RFS: liboauth (Updated package)

2010-05-19 Thread Bilal Akhtar
Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "liboauth".
In this update, the package moves from compat 5 to 7 and utilizes the new rules
file syntax and overrides.
Also, this version is based on a newer upstream version (0.6.3) unlike the
older one (0.6.0)

* Package name: liboauth
  Version : 0.6.3-1
  Upstream Author : Robin Gareus
* URL : http://liboauth.sourceforge.net/
* License : GPLv3, MIT
  Section : libs

It builds these binary packages:
liboauth-dev - C library for implementing OAuth 1.0 specification (development
files)
liboauth0 - C library for implementing OAuth 1.0 specification

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix these bugs: 581601

My motivation for maintaining this package is: This is the ONLY C library that
implements the OAuth protocol. I would like to package it,
as I am developing applications that utilize liboauth for accessing the web.
Many more programs use it right now, but the lack of a package
in Debian was the reasons why many app developers copied the source code into
their programs.

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/l/liboauth
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main
contrib non-free
- dget
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/l/liboauth/liboauth_0.6.3-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards
 Bilal Akhtar

RFS: gurlchecker - New upstream version

2010-05-16 Thread Bilal Akhtar
Hi mentors!
I have packaged a new upstream version (0.13) of package gurlchecker
which is already in debian sid (version 0.11.2) . The debdiff from the
sid package to the new one can be found here:-

http://expatsinksa.com/gurlchecker_0.13-1.debdiff

I am looking for sponsors for
the package, as the maintainer of the package gave me this reply when I
mailed the debdiff to him:-

I would be glad if anyone helps in updating the version of the package

ran a test build in pbuilder as well.

Fine, will correct that and upload soon to m.d.n.

My app is using it (currently under development). This library has the
distinction of being the only C library that provides OAuth support.

I completely agree. I have been facing this problem as well. My last
upload took 24 hours to be accepted (that was almost a week ago), and my
latest upload (which I made around 30 hours earlier) is still pending.
No notification mail, not showing up on the m.d.n page.
I am waiting for this problem to be solved soon. Please, someone DO
IT! :(
Cheers,
Bilal Akhtar
