Hi,

I have removed these two things in the changes I have pushed, but I
wasn't able to preserve idempotent builds. For other projects I've
worked on, it's possible to just delete the modified files and achieve
idempotent builds, but since this project also tries to patch the files
that get deleted, it doesn't work.

Anyway, I couldn't find in the Debian Policy anything about idempotent
builds, just idempotent maintainer scripts. I've only been told about
idempotent builds, I think, by other developers and I've also come
across some bug reports about it. I've also found the --git-export-dir
option to gbp-buildpackage, which allows you to not worry about modified
files.

Cheers,

Carlos

Hi,

The reason I put it in the -dev package was that this documentation was
more related to the API and not so much in end user's interests. Other
packages that have it this way are libnautilus-extension-dev and
network-manager-dev.

Please let me know if you'd still like it moved to the -doc package.

Bug#920654: RFS: liboauth/1.0.3-3 [QA]

2019-01-27 Thread Carlos Maddela
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: normal

  Dear mentors,

  I am looking for a sponsor for my package "liboauth"

 * Package name: liboauth
   Version : 1.0.3-3
   Upstream Author : Robin Gareus
 * URL : http://liboauth.sourceforge.net/
 * License : Expat
   Section : libs

  It builds these binary packages:

liboauth-dev - C library implementing OAuth Core 1.0a API (development
files)
liboauth0 - C library implementing OAuth Core 1.0a API (runtime)

  To access further information about this package, please visit the following
URL:

  https://mentors.debian.net/package/liboauth

  Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

dget -ux
https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/libo/liboauth/liboauth_1.0.3-3.dsc

  Changes since the last upload:

  * QA upload.
  * Add debian/not-installed to suppress dh_missing warnings.
  * Add 06_null_ptr_deref.patch, cherry-picked from upstream to avoid
possible null pointer dereference.
  * Drop 02_xmalloc_dont_exit.patch, since fixing the shlib-calls-exit
lintian warning by introducing a possible null pointer dereference is
incorrect. Use an override to suppress it instead.
  * Update debian/gbp.conf: change debian branch to debian/master.

When I took over as maintainer, I wanted to know why the project's
original tarball in Debian differed from that of the one available
upstream. I found that they only differed in the way that the top level
directory was named. From what I gather, this was necessary for Debian's
earlier build system, as documented here:
https://wiki.debian.org/Packaging/Intro. See Q&A for "do we need to
repack the original tarball if it doesn't contains a properly named
foo-1.0 folder?" Since, it's no longer necessary to repack the original
tarball, I thought it would be best to revert to using the original
upstream tarball without any changes. However, the only way I could do
so was to upload it with a higher version number, hence the +orig. If in
the unlikely event that a new upstream version were to be released, the
+orig can be dropped once again.

  * Remove obsolete file: debian/README.source.
  * Build with all hardening flags set.
  * debian/control: Fix splint-data's relationship to previous versions.
  * Convert patch headers to DEP-3 format compatible with gbp.
  * Update autoconf patches to work only on files not automatically generated.
  * Do not automatically un-apply patches so that clean is done properly.
  * Fix clean up rule in test/db3/Makefile.
  * Perform wrap and sort on all Debian control files.
  * Fix spelling mistakes in source and documentation.
  * Fix possible privacy breach issues in documentation.
  * Fix autoconf and automake warnings.
  * Force non-parallel builds, since parallel builds don't complete
reliably.
  * Do not capture build path, host name or user name to make
builds fully reproducible.
  * Convert debian/copyright file to DEP-5 format and update.
  * Update rules for creating DFSG upstream tarballs.
This is so that we can correct the package's versioning, by
replacing the appended .dfsg* with +dfsg* instead. The image file,
doc/html/glowingwall-narrows.jpg, has also been included for the
documentation package, and XZ compression is now used.
  * Remove superfluous duplication of tests.
  * Try to separate arch-specific and -independent rules.
  * Add doc-base registration for HTML documentation.
In addition, standardise file extensions of all HTML files, and
provide convenience links to them from the main package. (Closes: #548122)

mixing of statements and declarations. (Closes: #369264)
  * Update 03_359894_VA_ARGS.patch to the one applied upstream.
The patch applied upstream also adds a check for +gnuextensions.
  * Cherry-pick other relevant unreleased upstream changes,
so that we're fully up-to-date with "CVS" upstream.
  * Backup and restore mutable files for idempotent builds.
  * Add multiarch include path to standard include search paths.
(Closes: #675025)
  * Fix names of timespec members. (Closes: #680121)
  * Fix Internal Bug at cscannerHelp.c:2428.
(Closes: #473595, #476228, #498345, #548768, #569928, #601424)
  * debian/control: Fix splint-doc-html's relationship to prior versions
of splint.
  * For build reproducibility, move *.lcd files to the main package
as they contain architecture-specific information.
  * Move man page to main package to avoid Lintian warnings when
building architecture-specific package alone.
  * Add LFS support to 32-bit architectures.
  * Indicate compliance with Debian Policy 4.1.0.

I am trying to set up another box with these installed on them, but I
don't have the resources right now. Running them in qemu is impossibly
slow on my current box.

Thanks for taking the time to consider my upload,

There wasn't any specific reason, except for trying to keep file sizes
as small as possible. I have reverted to using the original tarballs now.

I only disabled the tests to speed up builds. There was initially some
problems with the tests inside of sbuild, which prevented successful
builds, but they have been resolved. The test suite doesn't make use of
any $HOME directory. It was just my way of detecting if the build was
being done from a chroot.

Anyway, I have removed those lines completely, and the tests are
performed now.

officially released) to mentors. I have applied for access to
collab-maint (just a few minutes ago), so I probably won't be able to

Bug#847015: RFS: debdelta/0.55+nmu1 [RC] [NMU]

2017-01-01 Thread Carlos Maddela
Hi Tobi,

It's strange, but the BTS didn't forward me your message.

I believe Andrea was X-Debbugs-CCed in my original RFS message.

I'll keep the things you've pointed out in mind in the future.

Anyway, I think Andrea has become active in the RC bug, so it has made
this RFS unnecessary. Should I close this bug?

Thanks,

Carlos

The only reason I've done that is because that was what I was told to do
for the dmalloc package. I wasn't sure as I'm still relatively new to this.

* Tidy up installation of doc files.
* Drop no longer required debian/pixmaps/dvdisaster.xpm.
* Add debian/dvdisaster-doc.doc-base file.
* Add link to html docs in dvdisaster-doc package.
* Fix clean up rules.
* Update docs to install.
* Separate binary-arch and binary-indep rules.
* Fix all compilations warnings we can fix and silence the ones we can't.
* Package upstream manual.pdf for the time being, since we can't
  build it reproducibly.
* debian/control:
  + Update to Standards Version 3.9.8.
  + Update VCS details.
  + Remove obsolete DM-Upload-Alllowed control field.
  + Perform wrap and sort.
  + Mark dvdisaster-doc as a multi-arch foreign package.
* debian/rules:
  + Build with all hardening flags set.
  + Link required libraries as needed.
  + Don't build with source path embedded as this makes unreproducible
builds.
* debian/patches/*:
  + Refresh patches.
  + Fix patch headers to work with git-buildpackage, retaining as
much meta info as possible.
  + Fix GNU Make detection.
  + Use non-size-specific icon and add keywords to desktop file.
  + Fix spelling: upto -> up to
  + Fix missing language fields in PO files.
  + Use the Debian changelog details to derive a build number and date,
so that we can make reproducible binaries.
  + Update help dialog to show GPL-3 license and new Debian package
tracker.
  + Fix generated man pages. The generated man pages incorrectly direct
users to the directory of the old HTML documentation, which is no
longer available.
  + Fix display of manual.pdf. The PDF file is automatically compressed
by Debhelper, so we need to account for this.
  + Update copyright notice in about dialog.
  + Allow ShowTextFile() to work with absolute path names.
  + Fix display of changelog, credits and to-do files.
  + Resurrect old code to support opening URLs in a browser.
