RFS: python-path

2004-06-16 Thread Chris AtLee
Hi all,

I'm looking for a sponsor for the path module for python. The module
was written by Jason Orendorff
(http://www.jorendorff.com/articles/python/path/) and packaged by
myself. I have made a few modifications to the original source.

path is a very handy wrapper for the os.path module (as well as some of
the methods in shutil).

I have e-mailed Jason twice (on May 26th, and June 1st) to ask if he
approves or not of me submitting the package and to give him my changes,
but he hasn't replied, so I'm not sure what the proper course of action
at this point is. The license on the module is completely
unrestricted...

Cheers,
Chris

New package

2002-03-17 Thread Chris AtLee
Hi there,

I've written a small program that I'd like to package and have included
in the debian archive. It's a gnome applet that allows you to set
alarms and then be notified when those alarms go off.

I think I have all the debian/* files set up properly - I can generate a
.deb file ok and lintian only complains about something that I'm not
sure can be fixed:
E: alarm-applet: file-in-usr-marked-as-conffile
/usr/share/applets/Clocks/alarm_applet.desktop

What is the next step for me? Getting this package sponsored?

Thanks!
Chris

Ok...So why does gnome-applets put stuff into /usr/share/applets? Or do
those files not count as configuration files?

Re: New package

2002-03-18 Thread Chris AtLee
Ok, so if I just remove that .desktop file from the list of conffiles,
everything will be fine? I put it in there because I noticed that the
.gnorba file was automatically a conffile (I guess because it was put in
/etc) and didn't see why the .desktop file would be any different.

Cheers,
Chris

If something optionally uses gnome, should the package include the
.gnorba and .desktop files, or should a separate -gnome package be made?

New package, request for sponsor

2002-03-20 Thread Chris AtLee
Ok, I've fixed up my package a bit so that lintian doesn't complain
about the conffiles anymore and I made the gnome support optional.

I'd like somebody to sponsor this package so that I can get underway
with becoming a new maintainer. What my package contains is a gtk based
app that keeps track of a list of alarms and notifies you when one of
the alarms expires. It was primarily written for use in the gnome panel
but will now work on its own.

Re: New package

2002-03-22 Thread Chris AtLee
The reason I wrote the program was to have a convenient way of reminding
me of simple things...Like when the laundry is going to be finished,
water is boiling, etc. I'm a very forgetful person :)

at alone isn't sufficient, as Matt mentioned.

You can find the script up at:
http://atlee.ca/alarm_applet

It requires python-gtk and optionally python-gnome (I wrote it first as
a panel applet, so the vanilla gtk interface still needs some work)

It doesn't use at as a backend, although it could (should?). I didn't
see why since I'd have to update the count down every second anyway.

Cheers,
Chris
