Ah, I had just come here to look at uploading this to *unstable* - we've just uploaded mutter-3 there, and so budgie-desktop will need fixing now. Could you possibly re-upload to unstable NEW please? I guess if some copyright fixes are required then David might need to post a new package. This happened earlier. As a quick summary of things that are relevant to these lists: - After a quick consultation with developers, Ubuntu will be deprecating REVU. This is rather more immediate than I had anticipated. - We will continue to inform maintainers of new packages that they really ought to be targetting Debian, but we identified two documents that should exist + An Ubuntu document “Why Debian?” that presses the compelling case for contributing packages upstream. We have [0], but I imagine something more + A Debian document “How Debian?” which speaks to upstreams wishing to maintain their own software in Debian. This isn't a packaging guide, but a process one — how to find teams and get reviews, and so on. - Still hope to use mentors, extending it with the concept of derivatives for the rare cases this is needed or, if mentors folk aren't happy with this, then I guess we could run our own instance but this would likely have the same problems as REVU does. Help welcomed, especially with “How Debian?”. Until the derivatives stuff is done, we'll be conducting the few reviews that are necessary informally out of VCSes or on IRC. FYI I spoke to DSA yesterday to see if this is an issue. They informed me that non-members can get guest access to machines in order to comaintain services, but that they should be working towards becoming members at some point. So if there is appetite amongst the current mentors maintainers then it can be done. Session on "NEW package workflow" at UDS
Hello, I thought derivatives and mentors people might be interested to know that there's going to be a session about what the workflow for getting new packages into Ubuntu should look like at UDS on Friday at 10:00 EDT (14:00 GMT). In attendance will be myself, Allison Randal and zack. I plan on arguing for the increased use of mentors (debexpo) and the medium-term deprecation of Ubuntu's equivalent, REVU. There have been conversations around this before, but I see opportunities to build a good mentorship community for Debian and all derivatives which is based around mentors.d.n (hopefully mentors.d.o?). Please attend the session (remotely if you are not at UDS) (currently, the room may change but I'll let you know if it does) #ubuntu-uds-bonaire5 @ Freenode http://icecast.ubuntu.com:8000/bonaire5.ogg.m3u Or share your thoughts in reply to this thread and I'll try to make them known at the meeting. RFS: goocanvasmm
Dear mentors, I am looking for a sponsor for my package "goocanvasmm". I have packaged this as a precursor to requesting an upload for a client program, glom [0]. A previous version of this package (0.12.0) is in Ubuntu's universe archive, and as such was reviewed by two Ubuntu developers, so this should ensure some measure of acceptability, I hope. * Package name: goocanvasmm Version : 0.13.0-1 Upstream Author : Murray Cumming * URL : http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/sources/goocanvasmm/ * License : LGPL 2.1+/GPL 2+ Section : libs It builds these binary packages: libgoocanvasmm-0.1-4 - C++ bindings for GooCanvas libgoocanvasmm-dev - C++ bindings for GooCanvas, development files The package appears to be lintian clean. The upload would fix these bugs: 493794 The package can be found on mentors.debian.net: - URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/g/goocanvasmm - Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main contrib non-free - dget http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/g/goocanvasmm/goocanvasmm_0.13.0-1.dsc I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me. I am in #debian-mentors (Laney) for flames ;) Kind regards Iain Lane [0] http://www.glom.org/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-mentors-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
