I noticed that catch2 does not contain the header file catch.hpp any more. There is now some catch_all.hpp. So I replaced this header file in a patch[1] but obviously this problem can't be solved by pure wild guessing since this has lead to /usr/bin/ld: /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/13/../../../x86_64-linux-gnu/Scrt1.o: in function `_start': (.text+0x17): undefined reference to `main' and my manually added main() function (also in patch[2]) did not enhanced the situation much since its now running into linker errors[2]. Hello, On 13/05/2022 12:39, Lukas Puehringer wrote: Hi, I’m upstream maintainer and sponsored downstream maintainer of ‘python-securesystemslib’ [1]. Note that, for now at least, GAP itself does not furnish any library; hence libgap. Basically libgap adds a prefix to the GAP functions and variables, and gather them in a library. We must have in mind the following points: 1] The libgap source ball provides the modified source files with some delay (current modified gap version in libgap is 4.8.3 while the current gap version is 4.8.5 , this version being the one in Stretch. In any case, the copyright headers of the source files are not modified, so they cannot be packaged for copyright reasons. 2] The scripts that modify the original GAP source files is not distributed within the libgap upstream source ball, but it is available via the libgap git repository [2] at Bitbucket along some documentation for generating our own modified GAP source code. The current Debian source ball for libgap is the git repository material (which unmodified contains but obsolete GAP material, version 4.8.3). 3] The libgap Debian package must be synchronized with the GAP Debian package, so modifying the (potentially) patched GAP src/ is certainly not only a good idea but also a factor of stability and good maintenance. 4] Just the material in the subfolder src/ within the GAP source ball is needed, that is to say, not the all source ball. 5] We want a long term solution to ease the maintenance of Sage[Math] and its friends. For now, instead of a full source package and as suggested by Ben Finney, I think that a pure technical package that would contain main the src/ subfolder material is the best option. Of course, I am willing to write the patch against the GAP debian/ material that will introduce this src package. We are dealing here with a well known algorithm in the involved field. So the `party' is implicitly the algorithm. I have to confess that I am not familiar with this very algorithm. But the context let me think that it is a convergent algorithm and that the involved parameter is meant to control (numerical) convergence that goes out of control, what is a usual safeguard technique so to speak. > -- Jerome BENOIT | calculus+at-rezozer^dot*net https://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=calcu...@rezozer.net AE28 AE15 710D FF1D 87E5 A762 3F92 19A6 7F36 C68B

Nevertheless, it is not clear for me it is generated as template to ease the maintainer work or as Makefile as automake does. In the former situation, the patch make sense, in the latter, the Makefile may be dropped out at repackaging time. I will revisit this for cysignals 1.2 . When I wrote the lintian override, I have in mind beside the HTML output the ipynb input, only the former is taken into account by lintian. Meanwhile, I relized that lintian was not able to point out an audio privacy-breatch.. Anyway, I brought the suggested material. It was not really deprecated but rather moved. Whatever, the main issue is that the RTD version breaks compatibility with the version previously developed by Bibek Kafle and Roland Shoemake [A]. The real target here is the Python package recommonmark which depends on this very version; recommonmark has moved to RTD as well, but the broken issue has not been fixed yet. The suffix bkrs was appended for this purposed. All this stuff is exposed in debian/README.Debian . > > I would prefer that you packaged the new version instead. I would prefer too, but we (the Dedian Sage Team) really needs recommonmark to step forward in the packaging of Sage. I also think that Jupyter enthusiasts may appreciate it. Package: sponsorship-requests Severity: wishlist Dear Sponsor, I am looking for sponsorship for the Debian package commonmark-bkrs [0,1]. pacakge suffix: noSOMETHIN vs bare (or something)
Hello Forum, I am packaging a software of general use which can be or not built against a quite heavy library targeting a minority. I plan to provide two versions of the package: you got it, one without support of the concerned library; one with support. A suffix must be added to the packages to distinct them, my issue is which one to choose. If the library was X, it would be -nox and -x11. For the package supporting the library I plan to append the suffix -[LIBRARY SHORT NAME]. Concerning the other one, I am wondering if -bare or -pure (or something) would be a better choice than -no[LIBRARY SHORT NAME]. What do you think ? Any hint is welcome. Thanks in advance, Jerome

cython package: meta info
Hello Forum, I am packaging my first cython package. I have noticed what looks as meta information in the distributed __init__.pxd file, something as: --8><-- # distutils: include_dirs = /usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/PACKAGE_NAME Is this metaformation meant for some builder ? As a matter of fact, this very line was written by th setup.py scrip as follows: init_pxd = "# distutils: include_dirs = {0}\n".format(install_dir) Clearly the install_dir must be corrected: what is the best way to do so ? Thanks in advance, Jerome

Bug#833621: RFS: libgap-sage/4.8.3+ds-1 [ITP] -- GAP kernel as a C shared library
Package: sponsorship-requests Severity: wishlist Dear Sponsors, I am looking for sponsorship for the Debian package libgap-sage [1]: this package brings to Debian libGAP, a C interleave library that permits to play with GAP within C/C++/Cython code. This Debian package is meant for the experimental distribution because the upstream package was designed for the former GAP version 4r8p3 while the current GAP version 4r8p4 is already present in Sid and Stretch. libgap-sage is part of the Sage[Math] packaging effort. Dear Forum: It appears that some tests fail for one of my package (gmp-ecm) on one architecture (s390x): after some investigation, it appears that it is a compiler issue: building with gcc-6 (instead of gcc-5) causes no issue.
