Did you mean debian/changelog instead of rules in there? I like using debdiff instead of interdiff (less to type): $ apt-get source thingy # this will grab the current .dsc file $ cd thingy-* $ make changes $ dch -n describe changes # this will add a NMU versioned change $ debuild -uc -us # this will build the new package and .dsc $ cd .. $ debdiff $(ls -latr thingy_*.dsc | tail -n -2) thingy_change.debdiff If the source uses tools such as dpatch or quilt then that may not work quite so well - you could use the same tools or you could hack it a bit: patch the source (debian/rules patch or debian/rules apply-patches or something like that), configure it (debian/rules configure) then, BEFORE doing anything else, make a copy of the source tree (hard-linking files is good, so long as your text editor breaks links when saving). Diffing is suddenly easier. I used to get hung up trying to figure out which patch system is in use for a package. Lacking a better way, I wrote a script[1] to try and guess for me. I feel like there should be a simpler way, but it eluded me. :) -Kees [1] http://outflux.net/debian/scripts/what-patch -- Kees Cook@outflux.net -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. RFS: libdevice-serialport-perl
Hello! libdevice-serialport-perl has been languishing with a bad regression (bug#390387: version 1.002 was NMU'd into version 0.22). Zak Elep produced an official non-NMU update, but it was never sponsored[1]. Since software that depends on libdevice-serialport-perl breaks, finding the wrong version installed, I'd really like to get this fixed (I'm also the upstream author). What needs to happen to get this package sorted out? Thanks! Hi Mike! I'm glad to hear for you. :) I just rebuilt it here and except for a couple patchable problems with one of the tests (completely syntax issues that seem to come from upstream), the 'make test' comes out just fine. make test is a disaster, and I'd recommend leaving it off for now, I've been working on a large changes to that area, as it is unreliable based on available hardware, state of serial ports, etc etc. This is actually good to hear. The only thing I knew for certain used this package when I first made it was something I'd written to talk to a money order machine. This appears to be ldsp's common use-case. :) Kees, what's the real version number of the latest release? The version on your site and on CPAN are both numbered 1.002, but in your home-rolled debian/ dir, it's 1.2.0. These should be consistant. Those are very old attempts at packaging (I've dropped the debian dir in CVS). I'd like CPAN and Debian to agree, so 1.002 is correct. In addition to the test updates, I'll be sorting out the ugliness of the version number too. :) Thanks! -- Kees Cook@outflux.net -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Sounds good. I've updated the short description to Burns normalized audio CDs from lists of MP3s/WAVs/OGGs/FLACs and made small changes to the packaging based on suggestions from my other mentors.d.n upload. I built and installed the package. But when calling the program with a bunch of MP3 files or a playlist I just get Cannot find 'decoder:mp3'! Is there a dependency missing? Since mp3cd handles multiple formats, I put all the decoders in the Recommends line so that I didn't force people to install a decoder they were never going to use. However, that particular error message is pretty useless, so I've rev'd to 1.25.1, where that error now reads: Cannot find program to handle 'decoder:mp3'! Tried: mpg321, mpg123 The new version is 1.25.1-1. If you have time, can you give it another try?
