I checked UPSTREAM TARBALL CREATION OPTIONS in gbp-buildpackage(1) for an option to set the prefix that could be used in gbp.conf, but could not find anything. The default might have been chosen to match GitHub. I use debuild with lintian in buildah to build Debian packages: https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/maint-guide/build.en.html#debuild https://tauware.blogspot.com/2020/04/building-packages-with-buildah-in-debian.html > I can probably just live with the upstream tarball for now, but that > might be something you want to consider documenting in > debian/README.source or something. I have documented to obtain the tarball with origtargz: https://salsa.debian.org/swaywm-team/fuzzel/-/commit/777f02bbb38f229016bb41fc90ebfc923da46e98 # sha256sum ../fuzzel_1.8.2.orig.tar.gz 2e7debba9d56a989921e0ce518a026152d9fbea33abafe384a4aad074db89de8 ../fuzzel_1.8.2.orig.tar.gz > Otherwise this is almost ready to go, as far as I'm concerned, and I'll > be happy to sponsor this once it has a proper debian/copyright. Dear Debian mentors, I have updated the fuzzel package to version 1.8.2-1 [1]. I will push a signed tag once the package has been accepted into unstable. [1] https://salsa.debian.org/swaywm-team/fuzzel/-/commit/8ae19155129c7e7bf20246a105702c74a148ff03 Thanks, Peter

Dear Debian mentors, Apologies for the confusion: This package is still in need of sponsorship since I have not heard back from the Sway team. Bug#982145: RFS: fuzzel/1.5.1-1 [ITP] -- Application launcher for wlroots based Wayland compositors
Package: sponsorship-requests Severity: wishlist Dear mentors, I am looking for an initial sponsor for the package "fuzzel". I am currently a Debian Maintainer and would also like to seek upload sponsorship so I may maintain the package myself once accepted. * Package name: fuzzel Version : 1.5.1-1 Upstream Author : Daniel Eklöf * URL : https://codeberg.org/dnkl/fuzzel * License : Expat * Vcs : https://salsa.debian.org/swaywm-team/fuzzel Section : x11 Fuzzel is a Wayland-native application launcher, similar to rofi's drun mode. [ITP] https://bugs.debian.org/982140 It builds these binary packages: fuzzel - Application launcher for wlroots based Wayland compositors Fuzzel fills a gap in the Debian swaywm ecosystem as a Wayland equivalent for rofi in terms of ease of use, robustness, and simplicity. The upstream author, Daniel Eklöf focuses on technical excellence and a welcoming community around their software, and I am grateful for their work. Daniel maintains the foot terminal emulator which is in Debian. Regards, Peter
Salsa repository request
Dear mentors, I would like to migrate the packages cgit [1] and fcgiwrap [2] to salsa, but as a DM lack the needed permission for the debian group. Could you create the two projects and set me (pcolberg-guest) as master? (I have contacted my co-maintainers but unsuccessfully.) Bug#840598: RFS: poppassd/1.8.7-1 [QA]
Hi, In light of the recently announced forced 10-day migration delay after Dec 5 and the soft freeze on Jan 5, I would like to move forward with the proposed changes so the package is in shape for stretch. Adam, I do not wish to take over poppassd. If you could sponsor one or two uploads (the latter for work on a systemd unit), that would be ideal. Otherwise, my offer to help as interim co-maintainer stands. Regards, Peter

With Distribution: jessie-backports, golang-gopkg-cheggaaa-pb.v1 has now been accepted. But golang-github-fatih-color is still rejected with the same error "ACL dm: NEW uploads are not allowed". I tried uploading the latter both without and with an orig tarball. I attached once more the (unsigned) .changes file. Non-NEW backports rejected with "ACL dm: NEW uploads are not allowed"
Dear mentors, I am trying to update the following packages in jessie-backports: gbp clone --debian-branch=debian/jessie-backports https://anonscm.debian.org/git/pkg-go/packages/golang-gopkg-cheggaaa-pb.v1.git gbp clone --debian-branch=debian/jessie-backports https://anonscm.debian.org/git/pkg-go/packages/golang-github-fatih-color.git Older versions of the packages already exist in jessie-backports. My key has been added to the backports ACL (and has worked for similar updates in the past), and I have DM upload rights for the packages. My uploads for both packages were rejected with "ACL dm: NEW uploads are not allowed". I tried two times each, on October 16 and today, to rule out temporary errors. Do you have any idea what I am missing? I attached the (unsigned) .changes files for the attempted uploads. Jonas welcomed not only my offer; to my delight, he also welcomed [1, 2] a conversion from CDBS to short-form dh to make my maintenance easier, under the condition that I commit to the package for the long term. Inferring from tests on i386, the package should also be close to building on other archs. Before I adapt the symbols file using arch-specific constraints, I would like to survey all archs using the improved symbols file with an upload to experimental. Changes since the last upload: ucommon (7.0.0-7~exp3) experimental; urgency=medium * Switch from CDBS to dh * Build depend on graphviz for arch-independent builds only * Add dependency on libjs-jquery to ucommon-doc * Bump debhelper compat level to 10 * Replace -dbg package with automatic -dbgsym package * Build with bindnow hardening flag * Substitute arch-dependent size_t in symbols file * Exclude useless autogenerated doxygen files * Register HTML documentation with doc-base * Fix spelling mistakes found by lintian * Use /git/ instead of /cgit/ in Vcs-Browser field * Add myself to Uploaders -- Peter Colberg <pe...@colberg.org> Sat, 22 Oct 2016 23:22:27 -0400 If you decide to sponsor this package, please upload the source only so that buildd logs are available for all archs. Hi Tim, Thanks for the quick uploads to jessie-backports. Regarding the sponsorship process, I think RFS bugs are always closed manually by the sponsoring DD, rather than by editing the changelog after the sponsorship request. I have now force-pushed updated debian/ tags; in case you kept copies of the repositories on your local machine, you can update them with `git fetch --tags`. Peter

Bug#839859: RFS: poppassd/1.8.5-4.1 [RC, NMU]
Package: sponsorship-requests Severity: important Dear mentors, I am looking for a sponsor for the attached NMU of poppassd that resolves an FTBFS [1] due to an obsolete debhelper compat level. I have contacted the maintainer of poppassd five weeks ago [2] with a proposal addressing the numerous QA issues, including a new upstream release that fixes an ambiguous MIT/GPL license and uses autoconf. Unfortunately the maintainer has not replied so far. The maintainer has not responded to the RC bug either, which was filed in March. [1] https://bugs.debian.org/817626 [2] https://bugs.debian.org/836008 Following advice from Ricardo Mones on behalf of the Debian MIA team, I am submitting a minimal NMU for upload to DELAYED/7 that addresses only the RC bug. After the NMU has been accepted without a reply from the maintainer, I will request sponsorship for poppassd/1.8.7-1 [3] to address the QA issues (see lintian warnings). Bug#828700: RFS: twinkle/1.9.0+git20160520.0.be8b8df+dfsg-1 [binNEW] -- Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) SIP Phone
Hi Gianfranco, Thanks for sponsoring the binNEW upload of twinkle. I had a closer look at the lintian warning issued by debomatic: X: twinkle source: maybe-not-arch-all-binnmuable twinkle -> twinkle-common N: N:Tag to attempt to measure the number of packages that might have an N:issue with arch:all binNMUs. N: N:At this time, please do attempt to "fix" the problem. It is not N:clear what the solution is (if any at all). Nor is it clear that this is N:something that will be supported. N: N:Severity: wishlist, Certainty: possible N: N:Check: version-substvars, Type: source N: N:This tag is marked experimental, which means that the code that N:generates it is not as well-tested as the rest of Lintian and might N:still give surprising results. Feel free to ignore experimental tags N:that do not seem to make sense, though of course bug reports are always N:welcome. N: This experimental check not only flags twinkle but all packages that have a "Depends: foo (= ${source:Version})" on an arch:all package. As stated, there is nothing that can be done to solve that at the moment, since neither ${binary:Version} nor ${source:Version} would be appropriate for the case of an arch:all binNMU. Peter

I built the package in an sbuild chroot, which by default does not block network connections. The test is trying to contact the Let’s Encrypt staging server. The easiest solution is to disable the test for now, but in the long term it would be good to package boulder for Debian and use it for offline testing. Bug#817865: RFS: acmetool/0.0.49 [ITP] -- automatic certificate acquisition tool for Let's Encrypt
Hi Dmitry, The RFS for the acmetool package is now two months old; in the meantime, Harlan Lieberman-Berg of the Debian Let’s Encrypt team has reviewed [1] the package, which resulted in these changes [2]. [1] https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=817091#38 [2] https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=817091#47 The package was never uploaded though. Gianfranco Costamagna has suggested that I ask you for sponsorship, which is a good idea given your familiarity with the Go language. Given the author’s comment that v3 is still under development, I am going to add the Go 1.6 template support as a Debian patch while retaining the package name golang-gopkg-alecthomas-kingpin.v2. https://github.com/alecthomas/kingpin/pull/114/commits/c890f0fbd7826ef1155090f2dbffbce846823cb9 This means that dependent packages using customised help templates will need to be patched, which at the moment affects acmetool only. The Go 1.6 template syntax for whitespace elision differs from the syntax of the above fork, so it requires a bump of the major version of github.com/alecthomas/kingpin. Bug#817865: RFS: acmetool/0.0.49 [ITP] -- automatic certificate acquisition tool for Let's Encrypt
Hi Harlan, [Cc'ing Debian Go team] On Thu, Mar 17, 2016 at 11:34:12PM -0400, Harlan Lieberman-Berg wrote: > The Let's Encrypt team might be able to help you get sponsorship for > this. Quick question -- besides the implementation language, what are > the main differences between this tool and acme-tiny? That would be great! What are your thoughts on switching the Maintainer of the acmetool package to the Debian Let’s Encrypt team? While the package uses the dh_golang helper and fits well within the pkg-go team from a developer perspective, I expect user bug reports to require mostly knowledge of ACME and the Let’s Encrypt service. Briefly, acmetool lies half-way between python-letsencrypt and acme-tiny. Like python-letsencrypt and unlike acme-tiny, acmetool manages certificates in a directory hierarchy. Like acme-tiny and unlike python-letsencrypt, acmetool’s sole purpose is to acquire TLS certificates. acmetool is similar to “make”: If all certificate requirements are met, acmetool will do nothing. For each desired certificate, the user runs “acmetool want” with a list of hostnames, which creates a config file and acquires the certificate. Then acmetool may be rerun without arguments to renew certificates that are close to expiry. acmetool’s YAML-based minimal configuration files are well structured and documented, which makes them suitable both for editing by hand and automatic configuration management. acmetool fully supports running as either root or non-root user, and implements various methods to complete challenges such as webroot mode and HTTP proxy mode. acmetool is silent by default and will only output errors, which makes it ideal for use in cron jobs. Please take a look at acmetool's user guide: https://hlandau.github.io/acme/userguide For the Debian package, I have written a README.Debian that provides some hints on using acmetool and that is hopefully generally useful: https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-go/packages/acmetool.git/plain/debian/README.Debian Overall, my initial impression is that acmetool comes closest to “set it and forget it”. Since certificate renewals are only necessary every so often, time will tell whether the “forget it” part is accurate. Regards, Peter

This does not look like a proper release tag, rather an internal tag for an old commit that works with Go version 1.0. I added a watch file only for Go packages that are published on gopkg.in/, which is a good indication that the author is familiar with proper versioning and regularly tags new versions. For other Go packages I used git snapshots. I did see the occasional single tag for these, but again outdated and not indicative of regular releases. Therefore I think it’s best to ignore these stray tags. Regards, Peter
