Not everyone has a DEP5 compatible debian/copyright file and
force-activating that check for those packages would immediately break

I think lrc has a bug parsing debian/copyright with the Autoconf
expection, because now it says:

GPL-3+ with Autoconf-2~Archive exception| GPL-3+ with
Autoconf-2.0~Archive exception ax_build_date_epoch.m4

(note the missing ".0" before the "~Archive")

while d/copyright clearly states:

Files: ax_build_date_epoch.m4
Copyright: 2016, Eric Bavier
License: GPL-3+ with Autoconf-2.0~Archive exception

Unless I am not seeing something here, which is entirely possible.

That should be fixed now. We changed the behavior of the repository so
files can be shared between uploads as long as they have the same
content (checksum).

You can upload two version sharing the same orig and it will work fine.

Note that, shared files have the same restriction as other files. If the
content changes, all uploads using the previous version of that file
will be removed from the repository to keep consistency. The dsc link
for removed repository files should not appear in the package page.

Very nice, thank you.

That will make it substantially more easy to upload backports or
security updates if they share the same upstream version without needing
to do them in a piecemeal fashion.

mentors.d.n weirdness when uploading for multiple suites

2021-08-26 Thread Sven Hartge
Hello .*,

I noticed a little weirdness when uploading a package for multiple
suites, in my case for "bullseye-backports" and
"buster-backports-sloppy".

Reference is https://mentors.debian.net/package/radsecproxy/

I uploaded version 1.9.0-1~bpo10+1 first and then 1.9.0-1~bpo11+1
second.

The latter seems to have superseded the first, with the first still
being in the interface but somehow only "half". For example the URL to
the DSC does not work and the URL in the RFS template is only
"https://mentors.debian.netNone";.

Simple fix is of course to just delete and reupload 1.9.0-1~bpo10+1 but
I think I happen to stumble upon an edge-case bug in the mentors backend
here.

Grüße,
Sven.

Also beware of strange stuff the user may have done to the data in
$HOME.

On one of the multi-user systems I admin for my University one user had
placed a symlink to /usr/bin as $HOME/bin and another symlink to / as
$HOME/root. I have no idea as to *why* but imagine the fun you can have
if you just naivly delete something following symlinks.

Yes, this is accepted behaviour, because the system does not know if the
user uses the file for anything else. Maybe $HOME is mounted from the
network and the application using the files is still being used on a
different system.

Could be dpkg's path-include and path-exclude configuration on your
local system, for example from localepurge.

Does

  rgrep "path-" /etc/dpkg

return anything for you?

You can ignore this one.

Salsa CI uses ccache to speed up compilation and stores this cache
internally. If there was never anything compiled before, the extraction
of the cache fails until it has been created once.

The real failure is further down:

| gbp:error: Non-native package 'stellar' has invalid version '1.0'

Somehow the build results from the reprotest stage got very large,
triggering a safety check in Gitlab. Which surprises me, since other
larger projects like MariaDB use the pipelines without problems.

Something smells fishy here.

You can do two things in the interim period:

a) disable the reprotest for now to get a clean pipeline until this is
sorted (see https://salsa.debian.org/salsa-ci-team/pipeline#basic-use on
how to skip a job)
b) and report this problem via
https://salsa.debian.org/salsa-ci-team/pipeline/issues to give it a
better visibility for the CI team.

Sven.

I found that bug as well, but it does not mention the part where dch
just swallows an entry without any trace (other than the warnings).

dch "eating" changelog entries?

2018-03-05 Thread Sven Hartge
Hi!

I am co-maintaining bacula with Carsten Leonhardt and this problem now
occured several times for me. (Most probably because of misuse by me,
but I want to understand what went wrong.)

Take the following debian/changelog file for example:

---8<
foobar (1.0-3) UNRELEASED; urgency=medium

  * Third

 --

foobar (1.0-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Second

 -- Sven Hartge Mon, 05 Mar 2018 22:31:33 +0100

foobar (1.0-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Initial release.

 -- Sven Hartge Mon, 05 Mar 2018 22:31:03 +0100
---8<

Note how the last entry is unfinished, because of ongoing development.
When I now call "dch" to add another entry, the editor looks like this:

---8<
foobar (1.0-3) UNRELEASED; urgency=medium

  * Third
  *

 --

foobar (1.0-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Initial release.

 -- Sven Hartge Mon, 05 Mar 2018 22:31:03 +0100
---8<

See how the entry for foobar_1.0-2 is completely missing?

dch of course complains loudly:

,
| dch: warning: debian/changelog(l5): badly formatted trailer line
| LINE: --
| dch: warning: debian/changelog(l7): found start of entry where expected
more change data or trailer
| LINE: foobar (1.0-2) unstable; urgency=medium
| dch: warning: debian/changelog(l7): found end of file where expected more
change data or trailer
`

Of course one shouldn't dismiss such warnings easily and a bit more
attention to what the tools tell us is necessary, but I still find it
surprising that the next-to-last entry just vanishes without a trace.

Only using "dch -e" does not damage the changelog, but since this only
opens an editor without doing anything else this is not surprising.

Any thoughts?

Grüße,
Sven.
