Sigrok packages review/mentoring
Dear Andreas , I'm trying to summarize here the infos and thecurrent state of the adoption of the sigrok suite related packages in order to start the reviewing/mentoring process. 1. The corresponding ITA bugs: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=852830 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=852831 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=852832 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=852833 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=852834 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=852835 2. The source packages uploaded bt me to mentors.debian.org, which already ship the newest upstream versions: https://mentors.debian.net/package/sigrok-firmware-fx2lafw https://mentors.debian.net/package/pulseview https://mentors.debian.net/package/libsigrok https://mentors.debian.net/package/sigrok-cli https://mentors.debian.net/package/sigrok https://mentors.debian.net/package/libserialport 3. The git repos where currently the packaging is maintained: (atm in totally sync with the uploaded source packages) https://git.zgyarmati.de/debian-packaging/sigrok-firmware-fx2lafw-debian https://git.zgyarmati.de/debian-packaging/pulseview-debian https://git.zgyarmati.de/debian-packaging/libsigrok-debian https://git.zgyarmati.de/debian-packaging/sigrok-debian https://git.zgyarmati.de/debian-packaging/libsigrokdecode-debian https://git.zgyarmati.de/debian-packaging/libserialport-debian So as you mentioned for sponsoring you would like to have these git repos hosted on alioth.debian.org. Given that i have only -guest account there (zgyarmati-guest), how can i create a repository? What else I need to do (both technical- and administration-wise) to get started? Sigrok RFSs
Dear Mentors, at the beggining of the last week i submitted a couple of RFSs[1] regarding to the packages related to the sigrok[2] suite and its updates since the last version released to Debian. I'll be the first to admit that it's rather big pile of stuff to review (we are talking about 6 source packages, also with soname upgrades and so on), and i also know that most of the DD community is busy with Stretch related tasks, but even then: what else (beside uploading the updated packages and file the RFSs) can i do to ease the reviewing work and mainly to find a sponsor to provide the certainly needed guidence? @Uwe, i know you explitcly stated that it's unlikely that you have time to review and packaging work, but do you have some time any chance to comment the uploaded updates? Changes since the last upload: * New upstream release 0.4.0 * New maintainer (Closes: #852830) * Increase package name suffix as soname changed, add correspondig dummy package * Remove obsolote transitional dummy package libsigrok0-dev * Add binary and dev packages for C++ bindings * Add binary package for Python bindings * Patch Makefile.am to avoid build quiteness and install Python module under dist-packages * Add build-deps needed for C++/Python bindings The package was recently RFA'd by the current maintainer Uwe, see #852830, and i would like to take over the maintenance of this package and the related packages in the sigrok suite (see at http://sigrok.org/wiki/Downloads). RFSs for the other packagescoming soon. Unfortunately Uwe doesn't have time for sponsoring the package, so i would like to ask the community to guide me with the first steps. To ease this i uploaded my version to mentors.debian.net, see above. The packaging work is version controlled here: https://git.zgyarmati.de/debian-packaging/libsigrok-debian which repository i plan to migrate to collab-maint eventually once i'm more set in the Debian infrastructure. Please feel free to contact with any comments or questions, best regards -- Zoltan Gyarmati https://zgyarmati.de -- Zoltan Gyarmati https://zgyarmati.de signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Re: Packaging a gui app
Dear Matt, libqt5gui5 is already depending on the needed X libraries, so unless your app is doing something tricky, you don't need to care about this. But we can tell more if we see the application in question...
