Hm, I'd either put it into README.Debian, or send a mail to ftp-master
just after uploading to the NEW queue. Maybe as a reply to the "Foo is
NEW" message, so that the subject clearly indicates what this is about.

Another case demonstrating why upstream tarballs should not contain a

Err, no idea what ".ds1" is supposed to mean, and whether there's
actually a new upstream version. No, you are supposed to run lintian
with the -i option, or alternatively run

echo "W: qterm source: dh-make-template-in-source debian/manpage.1.ex" |

If I believe what lintian-info is telling me:

echo "W: qterm source: dh-make-template-in-source debian/manpage.1.ex
W: qterm source: dh-make-template-in-source debian/manpage.sgml.ex" |
lintian-info
W: qterm source: dh-make-template-in-source debian/manpage.1.ex
N:

the answer is no, what you should do is remove any remaining *.ex files in
the debian directory if you don't need them.

debian/manpage.1.ex and debian/manpage.sgml.ex are templates created
by dh_make. You can either rename them and use them or - if you don't
need them - just delete them.

One minor issue: you added debian/README.Debian to the debian/docs. I'm not

I strongly disagree; a manpage that describes what the command is
intended to do and how to use it is much better than no manpage at
all.

> and many one do not write manpages[1]

Yes, those packages are deficient. Every command on the system
(including every executable on the default system path) should have a
manpage telling me what that command is used for.

No, it doesn't. Packages have ended up with RC bugs before as a result
of cdbs changing the build-dependencies of the package in one of the
standard debian/rules targets, and I strongly discourage maintainers
from using this misfeature of cdbs.

Why not write a manpage? There are tools that automate that. (And if
you do not like roff, you can still use pod, etc.)

Nit-picking about the packaging:
* 1.log does not seem useful.
* debian/rules:
  DEB_AUTO_UPDATE_DEBIAN_CONTROL := yes
  This sucks, the generated control file is ugly as hell (it does
  build-depend on build-essential, etc.). Please fix that.
* debian/copyright probably needs newer copyright years.

At a glance, it looks like linda is somehow processing the
newlines as part of the command name, and is looking for

/usr/bin/qterm"\nicon32x32="/usr/share/pixmaps/qterm_32x32.xpm"\nicon16x16="/usr/share/pixmaps/qterm_16x16.xpm

I'd suggest checking your linefeeds in the menu file, and if
they're good, look at linda's source to see why it would be
doing that.

but they are really exist, anyone know why?

$ dpkg -L qterm | grep pixmaps
/usr/share/pixmaps
/usr/share/pixmaps/qterm_16x16.xpm
/usr/share/pixmaps/qterm_32x32.xpm

Hi there,

It looks like /usr/share/pixmaps/qterm_32x32.xpm and
/usr/share/pixmaps/qterm_16x16.xpm don't exist in the .deb.

Check you're installing them properly at package build time.

You can also run lintian / linda with a -i option for more details about
errors and warnings produced.

Regards,
Neil
