As much as I know, this process is stalled, because the involved persons
are very busy with either paid work or other non-Debian things. So, has
to volunteer to work on it if we want this to happen.

Debian is (slowly, as ever, help very welcome) working on PPA-equivalents.

In the meantime the only public service I'm aware of for this is OBS:
https://build.opensuse.org/

There are debian packages for the client end (obs-build) which you can
install, prepare your package, and specifiy what distros/suites you
want it built for, then OBS will do that for you. The architecture
support does not cover all of debian's arches.

> And, if it doesn't exist, could some of you explain why we don't have this?

It's mostly designed, but is waiting for the tuits to implement it.

> Or, should I have to create a something similar to a jenkins infrastructure

> test and build my own packages?

It should be loads easier than it is for a random person to install a
little local autobulder. We have been very bad at making this easy.

It is relatively painless to install: rebuildd, debile or pybit and
get things rebuilt-on-checkin, but only for your local arches unless
you have a handy pile of foreign-arch machines lying around or can be
bothered to set up qemu-builders or cross-builders. (And all of those
packages have issues to some degree).

But that doesn't solve the 'having somewhere public for others to
download from' or the 'building other arches natively' issues.

I have looked at this issue a few times and would love to have more
time to spend to spend on it...

ftp masters are also working to have PPA in debian (for DD and DM, if IIUC), but
this is a long dream.

To solve this issue (in fact, not everyone has a powerful enough computer to
locally build everything) some people write some tools.
I know about Deb-o-Matic: https://packages.debian.org/sid/debomatic

The developer run an instance here: http://debomatic-amd64.debian.net/ (also
with a really nice web interface see github for the source).
(if you are going to ask, the packages are currently keep for 15 days)

Yes, but _only_ the debian developers could access there. If I want to test a
package, you need an sponsor, and so on. I know the path.

The question is that sometimes one wants to build or test, or whatever and
launchpad offers that service for ubuntu. And the people, like me, that would
like to have own packages to test previous search an sponsor, have to create
all this infrastructure. That's all.

I would love to have a public service to build with clean autobuilders
packages for the people. Not, like now that you have to build your own
environtment.

Best regards,

Leopold

But I have to install it, and prepare a server to do that. There's no a public
service for debian that do that, no?

yes,

I build my packages with pbuilder, but I'm looking for an automatic place to
build packages for debian.
