But I'd like to mention that I had various in-person talks with him, and my
impression is that he is technically competent, shares free software ideals,
and would be a good fit for Debian.

Nodens is a member of the Debian Perl Team since 2015, and that's also the
year when I first met him (at DebConf in Heidelberg) and started to work
together with him. He has worked on a couple of individual packages since
then, and was active in team activities like organizing BoFs at DebConfs and
writing reports from Sprints.

Recently, i.e. at the Sprint last week, he spent lots of time on
cross-package QA work, analyzing an issue affecting many packages, drafting
a future team policy for the topic, and starting to fix affecting packages.

Nodens is in my experience a team player, knows when to ask, and is a fast
learner, e.g. of all the tools we have in the Perl Team and which can be a
quite overwhelming :)

Outside the Perl Team, Nodens was e.g. also active in the Alioth → Salsa
migration. which also shows his broad interest in and dedication to Debian.

I don't know his work in the Golang team but I hope someone from there can
tell their experience as well.

2 years ago already I advocated Chris' DM application:

and what I wrote there still holds, i.e. he does excellent technical work in
a cooperative way.

Since then, I granted Chris upload rights for mumble, and as I was and am
still subscribed to the package in tracker, I could follow him taking care
of the package in all necessary aspects: new upstream releases, keeping the
packaging side up to date, fixing bugs, interacting with bug reporters and
upstream, investigating difficult corner cases, etc.

I also noted that Chris had an eye at mumble's dependencies and helped out
there when problems arose, and that he always tries to support other Debian
contributors wherever he can.

Additionally we've been in contact via email and met at several DebConfs,
where our chats always should me that Chris shares Debian values and has
the necessary technical and social skills to become an uploading DD.

Therefor I support Christopher Knadle <chris.kna...@coredump.us>'s (key

Im hereby advocating Lucas Kanashiro to become an uploading DD.

Lucas has joined the Debian Perl Group in February 2015, and weve been 
working together closely since then. As in many cases, Lucas joined because he 
intended to create some specific packages but he very soon switched into 
help in maintaining all packages whereever work is needed mode. In 
the meantime he was worked on almost 300 packages and made almost 2000 commits 
in their respective git repositories.

In the course of these months, Lucas has seen and done all aspects of packaging 
and gained an excellent knowledge of packaging policies and tools. His 
perseverance in longterm projects (like fixing autokpkgtest failures) and his 
endurance in keeping our packages up to date with regard to new upstream 
releases have made him an important contributor to the quality of our 
teams work.

In his work, Lucas places an emphasis on doing things right, always 
asks for input when he has questions, and is very open to ideas and tips from 
others.

Lucas also took part in the pkg-perl sprint during DebCamp and the BoF during 
DebConf in Heidelberg. This gave us the opportunity for some pleasant analog 
communication as well :)

Since I think that Lucas has the necessary technical and social skills, I 
propose to accept him as uploading Debian Developer.

Ive been working with Christopher closely in the Debian Perl Group since 
about a year. He has packaged and updated at least 28 packages, and Ive 
reviewed and uploaded most or all of them.

which lead to his application and my advocacy.

As I think that Christopher has both the technical and social skills to be an 
uploading DD, I hereby advocate him.

I can only confirm what Axel wrote.

 Alex is an active team member for more than one year now and already a
 well-known and valued contributor on #debian-perl in IRC -- not only
 because he organised most of the Debian Perl Sprint in Barcelona
 earlier this year.

Actually Alex is member of pkg-perl since at least 2008, if my
grep-fu is correct :)
And I already met him quite some years ago (2010? 2011?) at FOSDEM.

In the last 1.5 years, besides his activities as a Perl hacker and
organizer, he also became more active again in Debian and pkg-perl,
and more visible on IRC :), organising, communicating, documenting,
and packaging stuff. We also met a few times in various places which
was always a pleasure.
 
 He is Uploader of four team-maintained packages, and already
 contributed to the group's git policy and autopkgtest documentation as
 well as to discussions on the debian-perl mailing list..
 
 I haven't sponsored an upload for Alex yet, but given his trace of
 records mentioned above and meeting him in real-life at the Debian
 Perl Team Sprint in Barcelona, I'm convinced that he has the technical
 skills needed to maintain Debian Perl packages and I'm glad he wants
 to (team-internally) take over libdbd-oracle-perl and keep in shape
 (it currently isn't, we already were on the way to RM it).

I have worked with Alex on the packages where he's in Uploaders and
also some others where he has made contributions, and I can confirm
that he has the techical skills to upload selected packages on his
own. - And I'm happy to see that he's getting even more active in
Debian and might end up as a DD in the not-so-distant future :)
 
 I hence support Alex Muntada's application to become a Debian maintainer.

I also support alexm's DM application.

I belive that Chris has the necessary technical and social skills to
become a Debian Maintainer.

I advocate Nathan Harrison Handler to become uploading DD.

First of all, I agree with what paultag has already written in his advocacy
statement; thanks for starting, so I can concentrate on filling in
additional pieces :)

Nathan is indeed a member of the pkg-perl team since quite a few years. I
would summarise his work as steady QA initiative: He regularly coordinates
packages between Ubuntu and Debian, sending patches and bug reports in both
directions and keeping packages in sync, thereby improving the quality of
the perl packages in both distributions. I also remember him doing mass
commits across our packages where he improved the debian/watch files. - And
whenever he has time he also integrates new upstream versions or fixes the
odd bug or does whatever is needed to keep the quality of our packages.

I appreciate Nathan's attention to detail and his diligent work; in my
experience he always asks for help when needed and provides help when asked,
and I always enjoyed interacting with him.

Since Nathan already makes valuable contributions to Debian, and he has the
required technical and social skills, I advocate him to become uploading DD.

Advocacy for Florian Schlichting

Hello,

I advocate Florian Schlichting to become uploading DD.
Advocacy text:

Florian is a member of the Debian Perl Group since over a year now.
He was very quick to learn the written and unwritten rules and documented
and undocumented tools of Debian at large and the Debian Perl Group. In the
meantime he is (co-)maintaining ~ 150 packages and has touched many
more.

In this 12+ months Florian has seen and done all aspects of maintaining
packages: updating to easy and complex new upstream versions, fixing simple
and RC bugs, dealing with users, upstream, and his fellows in the Perl
group.
Altogether he is an important pillar of the pkg-perl group since many months.

I highly appreciate Florian's technical knowledge, his diligence, and care
for details (also in (a?) package(s?) outside the Perl group that I've
sponsored). He's always accessible, jumps in where help is needed, and the
interactions with him were always very pleasant for me.

Since a couple of month
- Florian has already started to switch sides and help others on IRC or
  review their packages very competently;
- I didn't find any mistakes in the packages he prepared for upload.

So I think it's about time that Florian becomes an uploading DD in order to
enable him to upload his own packages and those of other not-yet-DDs, and
I'm happy to advocate him for this role.

I hereby advocate Alessandro's application as a DD.

Alessandro is a member of the Debian Perl Group since at least
December 2010, and he's one of the most active members constantly
since then.

When he joined the team, I was pleasantly surprised how quick he
learned all the written and unwritten rules, policies, and procedures
both of Debian at large and our group, and he soon prepared very good
packages. Since a long time I'm usually uploading his packages
without any (request for) changes, so it's about time he can do this
himself :)

Alessandro cares for a whole bunch of packages (he's in Uploaders for
85 according to my local git repos but IIRC he has worked on more)
and has done the whole range of maintainer duties (new upstream
release, fixing bugs, interacting with users and upstream, adopting
packages and bringing them up to date, etc.) in an excellent way; but
he also cares about things like out internal tools and thereby makes
lives easier for all of us.

It's a pleasure to work together with Alessandro, he's always
friendly and helpful, and also asks for help or picks up proposals in
the rare cases where this was appropriate.

I really hope to see Alessandro as a fellow DD soon.

Debian Developer. 

Nicholas is a member of the Debian Perl Group since last summer, and
since then he is one of the most active contributors, working
continuously on our huge amount of packages.

At the moment he's in Uploaders in 193 packages in our svn
repository, with a total of almost 2.000 commits.

During the time of his group membership he's seen and done all kinds
of activities around our packages successfully, from packaging new
modules to upgrading existing ones, from dealing with bugs in the BTS
and upstream to managing transitions (libwww-perl, which split off a
couple of its sub-modules into separate distributions) or
splitting/merging other huge packages.

Furthermore, he's also contributing to the group's documentations and
tools (dh-make-perl) or providing own tools for the benefit of the
larger Debian community (pkg-components).

Working together with Nicholas is a pleasure, he's always
cooperative, helpful, and friendly towards others; and sometimes he
even teaches me nice English idioms on IRC :)

Due to my intensive work with Nicholas I'm certain that he has both
the technical and the social skills to become a DD, and I'm happy to
advocate him.

I'm hereby advocating Dominique Dumont (domi.dum...@free.fr, key id
49AB2B6C) as a Debian Developer.

Dominique is a member of the Debian Perl Team since December 2008,
and is at the time of writing (co-)maintaining ~15 packages. I've
closely worked together with him, and uploaded many of them; other
members of the pkg-perl group have also worked with him and can add
their experiences.

For some of the packages Dominique maintains he is also upstream; I'm
mentioning this not because they are his pet projects but on the
contrary they are valuable contributions to Debian as a whole where
he is constantly investing time to improve them (keywords
Config::Model, package upgrades, DEP5 parser, ...).

I believe that Dominique has the technical abilities to be a DD. He's
an experienced developer and has in his time in the perl group gained
enough pratice to upload packages on his own.

It's a pleasure to work with Dominique, he's always open for
suggestions, eager to learn more and improve, and help others. - And
I also enjoy spending time with him in real life :)

I'm convinced that Dominique shares the values of the Debian project,
and that he's ready to become a full member of our project.


[Formal note: This advocation is really for DD and not for DM; since
the DM concept doesn't work in its current way for packaging teams we
are not using it in the pkg-perl group.]

field but has also helped to improve the historically grown
framework for building packages from multiple upstream tarballs
(before source format 3). He's also available for technical (or moral
:)) support on IRC.

 Therefore, I am advocating David Bremner for Debian Developer
 position.

I'm also advocating David Bremner as DD.

the group.

I did not bother asking him to create patches for RC bugs because I
judged that he has fixed more than enough already in the past and I
did not want to make him waste unnecessary time.

It's a pleasure for me to hereby advocate Ryan's application as a DM.

Ryan has joined the Debian Perl Group in October 2008, and we are
closely working together since then. He very quickly picked up all
the written and unwritten rules and procedures, not only of our group
but of Debian in general, and his work has a very high quality. He's
proficient in packaging in general, fixing bugs, dealing with
upstream and other aspects needed as a DM/DD. His willingness to
constantly improve our packages and to also do some grunt work like
mass-adopting orphaned packages is a great help.

It was also nice to see over the last months how he switched sides
from being a mentee to actively helping others with various issues
around packaging, policy etc.

I've also sponsored some of Ryan's other packages outside of pkg-perl
(ack-grep, apt-listbugs, mergelog, mp3split, sysnews). These packages
were also in great shape, and when I had some questions or proposals
Ryan always explained quickly and friendly why he made certain
decisions or picked up my proposals where appropriate. -- Being a DM
would help him to work on these packages, and I'm confident that he
will continue to take good care for them.

My interactions with Ryan on IRC or via mail were always very
pleasant, as he's friendly, considerate, helpful and also witty.

IMO Debian will benefit from Ryan as a DM and hopefully soon as a DD.

Franck maintains 3 packages (libiptables-chainmgr-perl,
libiptables-parse-perl, libnetwork-ipv4addr-perl) within the Debian

debian.org addresses are reserved for DDs (Debian developers). To
