Bug#251888: Workaround for 'cannot add printers in spadmin' bug

But you cannot choose a PDF converter as a default printer (didn't work for me). The other possibility is the following: Set CUPS_SERVER to some invalid value, and the cups stuff will get deactivated. I have export CUPS_SERVER=dummyin /etc/openoffice/openoffice.conf and when you oopadmin with this, too, you can configure printers as usual. Then configure the printer as "CUPS_SERVER=myserver kprinter" A silly workaround, but at least, it works.
Bug#256826: arp interactions
Hi, the frozen time may be shorter, if one does not arp -s/-f the hosts in the local network. E.g. with telnet the error strcmp:/tmp> telnet 192.168.171.5 Trying 192.168.171.5... telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: No route to host (an arp timeout) for non-preloaded (and non-existing) hosts is much faster, than a tcp timeout. Still, this is by chance only and freezing windows are very disturbing. Can contacting the print server be made asynchroneous? Or at least, after a while, open a 'please wait, still contacting the print server (%s)'-box? -- 52 61 6c 66 2e 4e 65 75 : 62 61 75 65 72 40 65 70 [EMAIL PROTECTED] 0010 6f 73 74 2e 64 65 0a 77 : 75 40 69 61 6d 2e 75 6e [EMAIL PROTECTED] 0020 69 2d 62 6f 6e 6e 2e 64 : 65 0ai-bonn.de. pgpcYK730T3Xy.pgp Description: PGP signature
Bug#250983: openoffice.org: openoffice crashes when creating a file or opening an existing one
Package: openoffice.org Version: 1.1.1-4 Followup-For: Bug #250983 I'm getting similar errors as reported before, but with 1.1.1-4. All of the menu items other than creating a new file work fine. Opening an existing file fails as well. I get a stack dump similar to what was reported in earlierreports. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.26-1-k7 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C Versions of packages openoffice.org depends on: ii dictionaries-common [openoffi 0.22.28Common utilities for spelling dict ii openoffice.org-bin1.1.1-4OpenOffice.org office suite binary ii openoffice.org-debian-files 1.1.1-2+3 Debian specific parts of OpenOffic ii openoffice.org-l10n-en [openo 1.1.1-4English (US) language package for -- no debconf information
Bug#257011: openoffice.org: oowriter and ooimpress render formulae incorrectly
Package: openoffice.org Version: 1.1.1-3 Severity: normal oowriter and ooimpress render formulae incorrectly; things look fine in oomath. e.g. 1 - PQR over PQR_max = int from 0 to 10 x^2 dx the - on the left side of the equation is way too long. Looks fine in oomath. making that: 1 - "PQR" over "PQR"_max = int from 0 to 10 x^2 dx fixes the problem (and de-italicizes the text) thanks, Hamish -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.26-1-686 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C Versions of packages openoffice.org depends on: ii dictionaries-common [openoffi 0.22.27Common utilities for spelling dict ii openoffice.org-bin1.1.1-3OpenOffice.org office suite binary ii openoffice.org-debian-files 1.1.1-2+3 Debian specific parts of OpenOffic ii openoffice.org-l10n-en [openo 1.1.1-3English (US) language package for -- no debconf information
Bug#257013: openoffice.org: right clicking on bottom tabs in oocalc and ooimpress Renames the wrong one
Package: openoffice.org Version: 1.1.1-3 Severity: minor if you try and rename a sheet/slide in oocalc/ooimpress by right clicking on its tab, it gives you a menu & you can change it, but it renames the current tab, not the one you right-clicked. Bug#251888: Workaround for 'cannot add printers in spadmin' bug
On Mon, 2004-06-07 at 11:28, Oliver Bausinger wrote: > Is there a way to disable this cups functionality and have spadmin work again? > (So I can have a simple Generic Printer with kprinter, currently you can > install one, but it won't be kept :-( ) I had a look at the upstream development version that includes the CUPS support too, and discovered that the 'Add a printer' option is grayed out on my CUPS system. So that is the problem with my backport - I didn't add the code to gray that feature out when using CUPS. So how do you add a queue for a program like kprinter? Choose 'Connect a PDF converter' instead of 'Add a printer', and enter kprinter as the command line. I confirmed that this works in the Debian packages too. I will work on a patch to disable 'Add a printer' when CUPS is enabled. Chris

Launched from the menu, it started in 5 seconds, maximum 10 seconds. Since yesterday evening (no reboot between friday and sunday), it takes 10 minutes to start when launched from the menu. Launched from the command line, it starts very quickly but when I try to create a new document or open a existing one, it takes 10 minutes ! I made Debian/Sid updates every morning. So I suppose one of the updated packages causes the problem, but wich one ? Do someone have an idea on the cause of the problem ?
