Bug#336528: Subject: opening links from OOo under KDE freezes OOo

2006-04-11 Thread Andriy Lesyuk

Hi

I have the same behaviour when clicking on Help-Register link. In my
situation all user events (mouse and

keyboard) are blocked (even in konqueror window).

Similar problems also appear sometimes when clicking on the link in some
document opened in OO. In that

case OO freezes. I think these two problems are related.

Actually I believe that the reason is not in the openoffice binaries but
in kde-open-url shell script. When OO

freezes killing kde-open-url process helps!

Thanks,
Andriy

Bug#336528: Subject: opening links from OOo under KDE freezes OOo

2006-04-11 Thread Andriy Lesyuk

Hi again

Just figured out that x-www-browser binary launched by kde-open-url
remained in the memory (no
konqueror window however). So probably bug is in this binary (don't know
which package).

Freezing possibly can be solved by adding ampersand at the end of the
line 56 of kde-open-url:

else
  sensible-browser $1
fi

In my case it helped.

Hope this will help,
Andriy

Bug#279250: Same problem with Find Replace dialog

2006-04-11 Thread Vincent Lefevre
I have the same problem with the Find Replace dialog and Fvwm.
I have two OpenOffice document windows side by side, and I open a
Find Replace dialog, which appears above the second document
window. As this dialog gets the focus, I can type something. But
now assume that I want to click on some button of the dialog with
the mouse. To reach the dialog, the mouse pointer must pass over
the second document window. As I use FocusFollowsMouse, this window
gets the focus and the Find Replace dialog disappears below it.
As a consequence, I can't click on a button with the mouse (I need
to use the keyboard).

With such a side effect, this can't be the correct behavior.

WTF are you forwarding that to me extra? I do read debian-openoffice.

Anyway, yes, this is known. OOo does not work with kaffe and does
interesting things like that when you try (maybe because your
/usr/bin/java points to kaffe). On sid, you would just install
java-gcj-compat, which is the only free JDK supported (uses gij).

On sarge, either install Suns/Blackdowns/IBMs Java or disable the
Java-needing features.

java in sid

2006-04-11 Thread jim
A couple of things I noticed in sid recently, I wonder is this correct?

(a) there are now packages for gcc-4.1, g++-4.1, gcj-4.1 and gij-4.1
(b) these provide /usr/bin/java, /usr/bin/javac
(c) gjdoc can be installed separately

Therefore with GCC 4.1, java-gcj-compat may be no longer required, but
gij-4.1 has this issue:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=361942

Also it appears java-gcj-compat uses the eclipse compiler for javac, not
gcj?

thanks

jim

I am sure it still is. There is/was some interesting problems without it
which were the cause we started to use it. Don't remember exactly,
though, but giij-4.0 etc. also had those points and it didn't work.

Yes.

I btw already test-built it on sparc using the java-gcj-compat-dev from
experimental, I am just waiting for it to enter unstable to
build sparc with it.

Rene

2006-04-11 Thread Luis Fernando Llana Díaz
Hello
this is my fisrt message to the list. In fact my problem is with the Windows
version of OpenOffice, but I write to this list because the Debian version
works properly and I would like the reason.
It has to do with the autofilters; in the Debian version when you have a
table and filter the rows with respect the vaule of one column, the values
appearing in the combos of the other columns are updated with respecto the
selected value. In the Windows version are not updated.

is that a Debian improvement in the sources or it is a issue of configuration?

Luis.

Slow startup of OO 2.0.1 Sarge backport

2006-04-11 Thread Alvaro Ramon
Hello,

Inmediatelty after doing a fresh install, I installed the backported
Sarge version of OO 2.0.1.

The problem I experience is that it takes about 100 secs for any of the
apps of the suite to start in my PIII1200 1G computer. Most of the time,
kaffe-bin process is taking most of the CPU, before splash screen
appears on the screen.

When it starts, if I choose to see the Java section in the options, it
appears empty (no JRE), so it doesn't recognize Kaffe.

What should I do to speed it up? Am I missing some package?

Thanks.
