Bug#724085: Intent to NMU
Hi, I've taken the patch prepared by Agustin Martin and prepared an NMU. I'm not sure why he didn't do it himself, but the patch has been sitting in the BTS for more than 5 months now. I'll be uploading to the 3-day delayed queue. Bug#578767: openoffice.org-calc: English setting gets ignored when importing CSV files
Package: openoffice.org-calc Version: 1:3.2.0-4 Severity: normal This bug is also present at least in version 1:3.1.1-11~bpo50+1, but I'm not sure how to set the found field in the first report, also I guess it wouldn't help so much since the BTS doesn't know about backports. OpenOffice used to have a very nice feature when importing csv files, it allowed you to set that the format of a column was US/English, and so, even though in Spanish we write 1302,22, when setting the column to English, it would automatically translate 1302.22 to the number above. Since version 3.1 in backports, and now 3.2 in squeeze, this is no longer the case. The English option is still there, but it changes no behaviour, I've tried many different things but the numbers are always interpreted as a string instead of a number. I tried searching for this bug at the OOO site, with no luck. Apparently it hasn't been reported there. This is a serious regression. Please push for a fix. Bug#483590: The dbf bug is still present
found 483590 1:2.4.1+dfsg-1+lenny3 thanks I'm sorry to report that the bug that prevents openoffice from saving dbf files is still present in the current Lenny version. :(. I've just needed to edit a dbf file, and I got the same problem as usual: I opened the file normally with oocalc, modified the values I needed, and when I press save (or save as and choose a dbf), I get the same error as I used to get with the 2.4.0 version: Error saving the document name: Connection to the file could not be established. Bug#274928: The bugs are still present
Hola Rene Engelhard! 3) Print only selected sheets is not selected by default. This is not that bad, but is also quite bothersome. Since the expected behaviour is that pressing the Print button will print the selected page. I'd say this is a _minor_ bug. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=386250. Fixed for 2.3. Can you please split up the rest? Handling them all in one report does not make real sense (but please test with 2.3 first, in NEW and http://people.debian.org/~rene/openoffice.org/2.3.0/ until it's through it) Ok. I just checked with the version in experimental and the issues: 1) Suppress output of empty pages is not selected by default. 3) Print only selected sheets is not selected by default. Are both fixed. I guess that we can close this report with that version as fixed and I can file 2 reports for the other two issues (which aren't fixed int 2.3): 2) Selecting a printing range affects all sheets, not just the one where the printing range is selected. [normal severity] 4) The print preview doesn't take into account the Print only selected sheets option. [minor severity] Is that ok? -- Bessos, Maggie. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#274928: The bugs are still present
found 274928 2.0.4.dfsg.2-5etch1 found 274928 2.2.1-7 thanks Hi! Sorry for being so slow in replying. I have just now tested this out, and all the behaviours reported are still happening with the version in Etch 2.0.4, and with the version in Sid, 2.2.1 My original report included more than one bug... And some are more serious than others. Here's a list, in order of severity. 1) Suppress output of empty pages is not selected by default. I can't believe that this is still true. I cannot think of ANY usecase where it would be useful to print empty pages. Specially taking into account that the default spreadsheed includes 3 sheets, and most people just use the first one. Thus, without checking this box, having a tendency to print 2 useless empty pages. I'd say this is an _important_ bug. 2) Selecting a printing range affects all Sheets, not just the one where the printing range is selected. This means that if you select a printing range in one sheet, you need to either delete it or select a printing range for all sheets, if you want to print what's in the other sheets. I'd say this is a _normal_ bug. 3) Print only selected sheets is not selected by default. This is not that bad, but is also quite bothersome. Since the expected behaviour is that pressing the Print button will print the selected page. I'd say this is a _minor_ bug. 4) The print preview doesn't take into account the Print only selected sheets option. This is a bit shocking, since one is expecting to see whatever is going to be printed in the Print Preview, and nothing else. But, it's not as bad as the others, so this would be _wishlist_, or maybe _minor_. I'm really surprised that all these flaws have survived such a long time, since I find all of them pretty bothering. However, I also know that it's not Debian's duty to fix these. These should all be sent upstream. Thanks a lot, and sorry again for the late reply. -- Bezitos, Maggie. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#274928: openoffice.org: (calc) Better preview and sheet management
Package: openoffice.org Version: 1.1.0-3 Severity: wishlist Hi! In our company we've been using OpenOffice for about a year, with a user base of approx 20 users, I know it's not much, but yet it has helped us get some experience with OOo. These are some of the problems that we have encountered with OpenOffice Calc: * The options Do not print empty pages and Print only the selected sheets are not selected by default, and therefore, everytime a new user is created, I have to go and change them, since it really makes no sense to print empty pages or print pages other than the ones selected. It would be better if these options were selected by default. * When previewing a document, it's very non-friendly to show pages that are not the ones to be printed. I mean, you have a document with several sheets, and have only one selected. When you go to Print Preview the whole document shows up, even if only one page would be printed when pressing the Print button. It should show the same things that you would get when pressing the Print button. * The Printing Area works in a non-friendly way, as well. If you have a Printing Area selected in one sheet, it affects the rest of the sheets. It should only affect the sheet where it was defined. I hope you understand what I mean and maybe can help making these wishes come true. Bug#223671: openoffice.org-gnome: No icons or menu items for GNOME 1
Package: openoffice.org-gnome Version: 1.1.0-2 Severity: normal Is openoffice.org-gnome just intended for GNOME 2? If so, it should say it in the description: GNOME desktop integration for OpenOffice.org This package contains parts of OpenOffice.org that integrate with the Gnome desktop, and provides Gnome menu icons. No mention of GNOME 2. However, this package does not provide the icons and menu items for GNOME 1. In GNOME 1 the icons and menu items go into /usr/share/gnome/apps, the previous OpenOffice had a nice menu dedicated to it, with a nice menu icon. The menu icon and the item descriptions go in a file called .directory, this is the one I've just created to fix the problem: --- /usr/share/gnome/apps/OpenOffice/.directory -- [Desktop Entry] Name=OpenOffice Name[es]=OpenOffice Comment=Office Suite Comment[es]=Programas de Oficina Icon=/usr/lib/openoffice/share/icons/ooo_writer.png Type=Directory -- Of course it would be nice to have the full internationalization, but I lost it after the upgrade. If you still have it, you should use that file. Please, do include this menus and menu items in the package, or modify the description of the package to indicate that it's only intended for GNOME 2.
