Bug#687228: Workarround for Icedove

2012-11-08 Thread Paul van der Vlis
Nice to have a repaired bug for version 3.6.3~rc1-1, but in the new
Wheezy there will be LibreOffice 3.5. So I think a workarround is
important for the coming years...

I use Icedove and it works fine when you do in LibreOffice tools |
options | internet | e-mail and put there /usr/lib/icedove/icedove.

With regards,
Paul van der Vlis.

Squeeze backport LO 3.5

2012-07-31 Thread Paul van der Vlis
Hello,

Do you expect a Squeeze backport for LO 3.5 ?

I need a feature what's not in 3.4, and there are many other reasons why
it's nice to have the same version in Wheezy as in squeeze-backports.

With regards,
Paul van der Vlis.

Bug#578732: SDBC problems when openoffice.org-evolution is not installed

2010-04-22 Thread Paul van der Vlis
Package: openoffice.org
Version: 1:3.2.0-4
Severity: normal

When the package openoffice.org-evolution is not installed, there are
problems with datasources. You will get an error about a missing SDBC driver.
Try file | wizzards | Address data source and you will see only other
external data source. If you use that, you will get this error: The
connection to the external data source could not be established. No SDBC driver
was found for the given URL. - When you install openoffice.org-
evolution the problem is gone. But many people don't use evolution, so they
don't install that package, and they have a problem.

And? There's only evolution (and kab) as adress book drivers in OOo.
(except the infamous mozilla one which needs internal headers of a heavily
patched obsolete mozilla and therefore doesn't build against a normal Debian
 ice*/xulrunner)
So you expect a function to work if the only connectors for it being there
 are not installed?

No, you can also choose other external data source, then you can use
many types of datasources. It's not only the wizzard what does not work.
Excisting datasources stop working when you remove openoffice.org-evolution.

I use the datasource with MySQL (odbc) and fastNAW, an extention what
offers inserting data in a document:
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/project/fastNAW

What do you expect OOo to do? Merge -evolution into -base? (And force
a libebook-1.2-9 on anyone? Only suggest libebook-1.2-9? Which would make
people wonder why their stuff doesn't work?)

I think there has to be investigated why this is happening. When there
is a driver missing in base, it could be added. Maybe strace can give
the right information.

My first goal with this bug was to make clear what the problem is when
you get an error about SDBC. I have searched hours before I got it
working again after updating to 3.2.

Paul van der Vlis.

OOo 2.0 version not on website

2005-11-01 Thread Paul van der Vlis

Hello,

On http://packages.qa.debian.org/o/openoffice.org.html the site says
it's Package: openoffice.org (1.1.4-7).

Information about the new openoffice.org 2.0 for i386 is missing there.

Great how fast OpenOffice 2.0 was in Debian!

With regards,
Paul van der Vlis.
