The "quickstarter" will be removed in next upload. See
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=819878.

Does it make a difference if you don't use the Quickstarter?

Do you still have it?

Otherwise I am seriously pondering to just close this...

Hi,

sorry for the late answer, saw the report during Debcinf, decided to answer
later and then forgot due to other LO stuff needing done :/

I don't believe so.

open a document. edit something. save it. make a new document.
(copy-paste some html page, nobody really cares from where.)

Only with copy-paste some html page? That was a recipe for disaster a few
times already Or also with normal usage?

now minimize libreoffice for while. You are no longer able to return to the
editor. It acts like vram is messed up or dodgy and fails to redraw itself.
maximize, minimize, all for nothing. Its dead Jim.

Hmm. That also was symptoms (hang) in the above back in the past. You don't
even need to minimize it.

Note: I am using the autolauncher. It seems to help loading times.
It should also be prelinked and preloaded as both packages are setup and
 running.

No, it shouldn't. (Had that prelinked ages, ago, though.)

But that's a complete other story :)

But try as you might to get the new document back open again, it is closed
 like
a clam.Relaunching the app doesnt work either.
App crashes on launch and fails to load.

I bet there's still a rogue soffice.bin around then? Then of course it
won't open again? (The quickstarter keeps such thing open, too..)

I unfortunately don't have a testing environment to test (need to create
a VM or somesuch) but I honestly doubt this is as severe and grave you
make it look it is... Especially as noone reported it so far the time this
was in unstable and then testing

Rene

Bug#796058: libreoffice: app seems to hang itself

2015-08-18 Thread Richard Jasmin
Package: libreoffice
Version: 1:4.4.5-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

open a document. edit something. save it. make a new document.
(copy-paste some html page, nobody really cares from where.)

now minimize libreoffice for while. You are no longer able to return to the
editor. It acts like vram is messed up or dodgy and fails to redraw itself.
maximize, minimize, all for nothing. Its dead Jim.

Note: I am using the autolauncher. It seems to help loading times.
It should also be prelinked and preloaded as both packages are setup and
running.

But try as you might to get the new document back open again, it is closed like
a clam.Relaunching the app doesnt work either.
App crashes on launch and fails to load.

Restarting may or may not fix this.

I cant touch the autoloader but clearly it has launched.Clicking on it has no
effect.
