Kernel Compile Error
I am trying to compile the benh_2.6 kernel from mvista.com on my Debian Ti PowerBook. Running "make-kpkg --revision benh2.6 kernel-image" returns this error: *** 2.6 kernels no longer buildcorrectly with old versions of binutils. *** Please upgrade your binutils to 2.12.1 or newer I have the following installed: binutils (ld) = 2.15 GCC = 3.3.5 make = 3.80 util-linux = 2.12 Google and the archives haven't turned up anything. Has anyone else had/solved this problem? TIA --John
APT Error
Trying to run "apt-get update" gives the following errors: E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room E: Error occurred while processing python-f2py (NewVersion1) E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/ftp.debian.org_debian_dists_unstable_main_binary-powerpc_Packages E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened. This is a decent explanation of the error(s), but I haven't the foggiest idea regarding how to fix it. Can any of you gurus help out? TIA --John
Java 1.4 for PPC?
To add a twist to the Java plugin thread, is the Java 1.4 SDK or JRE available anywhere for PPC? TIA, John
META key on Ti PowerBook
The answer is probably obvious, but I guess I'm oblivious. I'm trying to use emacs -- a difficult task without a META key. Neither the option nor the Apple keys work for this in Debian or OS X. This is strange since emacs is available in both OSs. Any Mac emacs gurus want to provide some META enlightenment for this rock? Right-click on a Ti PowerBook G4
Forgive what may be a dumb question, but... How do I get the trackpad to perform a right-click? The OS X method of Option+Click doesn't translate to Debian ;( John Gilger [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Modem configuration on Ti PowerBook G4
I recently did a network install of Woody on a Ti PowerBook G4 -- congrats to the install team, it was slick and easy. I am trying to setup a modem to use when a dialup is the only available connection to the 'net. Wvdial is configured similar to my i386 box and seems to work OK up to a point -- It finds the modem and sends the init string (generated by wvdialconf), but it doesn't dial out. it kind of acts like a Winmodem. Any advice/assistance will be appreciated :) Learning this Apple hardware is a new challenge ;) John Gilger [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
