Mounting CF card
I just bought the new Canon Digital Rebel XT 350D, and I want to know how I can mount a CompactFlash card (Lexar 1GB 80x). I need help mounting the CF card, and also want to know if there are any reliable apps for converting RAW image files. I'm running Debian Sarge on an Apple PowerBook G3 500 'Pismo,' with the 2.6.8 kernel. I tried to find a solution on Google for mounting the flash card. I tried code:mount -t vfat /dev/sda2 And even to specifically allocated directories. I am met with the following response: code:mount: special device /dev/sda2 does not exist I tried several variations, including sda1, sda3, sdb1, sdb2, etc., but none provided results. When looking for /etc/fstab and /etc/mtab, neither were found. I also tried code: mount -t vfat /media/flash only to be responded with the directions for mount. If someone could help me out with mounting and with the program for converting RAW files, I'd be very appreciative. I wouldn't want to have to return to proprietary software (OS X) just to care for my first love of photography in my switch to digital. Thanks a lot!
Copying mp3s from a Mac iPod
I want to copy mp3s from my girlfriend's Mac-formatted iPod 4G. I'm running Debian Sarge with the stock kernel on an Apple PowerBook G3 500 Pismo. Any advice on how to do this without reformatting her iPod?
Re: Copying mp3s from a Mac iPod
Horribly newbish question, but how can I verify whether or not the sbp2, ieee1394, and ohci1394 modules are loaded?
Getting Flash support on Sarge
I want to get a Flash plugin to run under Sarge. I downloaded the source for GPLFlash 0.4.13, but upon running ./configure I'm eventually met with the error configure: error: *** GPLFlash requires libjpeg. I Googled for libjpeg, but all I found was jpeg-6b -- which was a few years old. Regardless, I downloaded the source and compiled it, but I still get the same error when trying to ./configure GPLFlash. I'm running Debian Sarge with the stock kernel on an Apple PowerBook G3 500 MHz 'Pismo'.

Suspend
I'm running Debian/sarge on an Apple PowerBook G3 500 Mhz 'Pismo.' I've noticed that you can't suspend/hybernate/sleep the computer when you close the screen, and I was wondering if there was a solution to this, as I constantly bring my computer around with me, and booting it every time I need to put it back in my bag would be inconvenient. I know Linux typically has hybernation issues with laptops, but I was wondering if there was a solution to this. Thanks, Nathan
Re: Further XF86 trouble: startx - no screens found
Mike S, your solution worked! I've successfully loaded XF86 with my ATI Rage Mobility 128 AGP, and I'm running Debian/sarge with KDE 3.3.2. Thanks a lot! Now I just have to wipe my harddrive and install only Debian (as Ubuntu takes up a huge partition, but is now useless). Thanks!! Sure, you'd have to find out how to update your sources.list with the right repository. You might as well just install ubuntu for that matter and avoid possible breakages. As for working with what you got, you sure you have the sync rates correct? The driver? Lastly, run dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 a few times with different settings and try to run X. If you only have one video card, don't specify it in XF86.config-4 Other than that I'm out of ideas. Is this a pegasos? I don't know anything about this subset arch. Night this is something I would conceivably want to do when I go back to Debian, so please let me know how it works. And I would think that if you installed Hoary from cdrom that you could mv your etc/apt/sources.list aside, create a new blank one and then use apt-cdrom, that's what I would try. --Mike S I don't know why I didn't think of this before, as it was suggested to me personally just a few months ago. If you have a livecd that you can boot and get an xorg session in, do that, then copy the /etc/X11/xorg.conf to your hard drive. Reboot into debian, and use the screen settings from that in the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file or whatever it's named. Me peprsonally when I take the plunge back to Debian, I am just going to try and use the whole thing first (renaming xorg.conf appropriately), and then go from there. --Mike S
Re: Further XF86 trouble: startx - no screens found
But now I have no more use for Ubuntu, as I was trying to rid myself of it because I found it slightly unstable, but still wanted to use a Debian distribution. I'm just running Debian now, as I was trying to do, and only using Ubuntu to screw around. I achieved my goal of setting up the X Window System on Debian sarge with my card, and now have no more use for Ubuntu. It's a fine distribution, no doubt, but I don't want it anymore. Slightly noobish question: how can I configure a button to serve as right-click, since I'm on a Apple mac with one mouse button, in KDE 3.3.2? I just got myself set up, so I've yet to explore everything, so we'll see whether I get a response or figure it out myself first. Thanks for the help!!

X Window Server setup: video card Bus ID.
Hey, I'm making the switch from Ubuntu to Debian 'Sarge' (Ubuntu's too unstable for my liking). After doing a netinstall of Sarge and using apt-get to retrieve x-window-system, kde, and kdm, I set up the x-window-system preferences. It says I need to enter a Bus ID for my video card (because I'm on PPC, even though I'm only using one vard). I used lspci and found my ATI Rage 128 AGP (8MB) with a Bud ID of :00:10.0, but it says I have to convert that to hexadecimal to put it in. Am I doing this right so far, and, if so, how do I convert this to hexadecimal. I've scoured Google for advice, but PPC support isn't very strong in the Linux community from what I've seen. Figure this is the best place to ask. Any help? Thanks
