Re: Oracle has a Debian repository now

2006-03-28 Thread Michael Kallas
Hi,

Lots of people are interested in Oracle support for Debian, so I
thought I'd mention the following posting which describes Oracle's
Debian repository - something which looks like a step in the right
 direction.

 http://frits.homelinux.com/wordpress/?p=9
It would be a step into the right direction if Oracle would release it as
Free Software (according to DFSG). Until then, I'm not sure how this is
connected to the Debian project.

Best wishes
Michael Kallas

P.S.: I'm subscribed to -project, please don't CC.

So before I go and download Debian to see if I can get it to work, could you
just tell me if it will work or not?

If you can get the Windows driver for it, it will probably work with
 ndiswrapper.

Be warned though that windows drivers always suck,
you'll not be able to use all features of your card
and being totally non-free, there never will be
a chance of improving those drivers (except reengineering
them which is hard).
