Re: Open Letter to Anthony Towns about the d-i mediation ... [forking practicalities]

Is there any way Sven could attempt to do that now without it being seen as a strategy for regaining access to svn? Personally, I doubt it. How functional is git's svnimport and so on? Would the powerpc builders be open to using a git store upstream instead of d-i's svn, and someone with d-i commit access be willing to merge changes back? I think that's about the only route I can see that would let Sven Luther do powerpc maintenance directly again. Hopefully someone smarter will have a better suggestion. It's sad to see so many clever people unwilling to go beyond calling for /ignore svenl and sod the powerpc install. Is no-one smart enough to come up with a way that's good enough to stem complaints from both sides? No, because at this point, the important thing, despite what Steve says, is not really the svn commit access. I can perfectly live in the current situation, if the d-i team where more responsive [1], and frans avoided being bashful in his replies to the BTS. This seems totally at odd with Steve's complaint i only want the commit back, and do not want to solve the issue. Friendly, Sven Luther [1] the apple G5 fancontrol patches are not yet commited for example, making the boxes go into airplan noiselevel a minute after booting, making the installer pretty unusable on those, its almost 2 weeks since i commited them. I agree that the freeze means they could not be uploaded before rc1 is out, but at least they could have been commited to the svn. Same goes for the finish-install IBM power serial console patch. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

JoeyH's comment on the support page I set up makes that clear enough I think. And, as you wrote, any attempt from Sven to fix things up will look like a desperate attempt to get his commit access back and only that, so ...
