Okay, we did it! Finally the account was activated.

That said my email is like that because it's my national identity number,
signed by my government.

Well. No, you have your account. That is, your registration did not
appear like one of the trillion spam ones we get.
You do have your account on salsa, there is nothing now blocking you, so
keep your gmail. Feel free to add other email addresses, gitlab allows
that, and in many cases it makes sense to have more than just one there.
But that's independent of registration.

*Personally*, I think you can't leave gmail any second to early. The
faster, the better. But that doesn't aaffect your salsa access at all.

He just came to IRC, said "I liked to join Salsa" and left 20 minutes
later". That's not very useful.

Alberto, please register again. Now that we know that there is Alberto
that is a real person, but has a spammer-looking email address, we can

Nobody will force you to volunteer your time to Debian.

You have been given several replies as to why your registration has
not succeeded, and ways forward as to how to proceed. If you are
already fed up with us and don't want to follow the suggestions given
by other Debian volunteers, well... the free software world is quite
wide, and I'm sure you will find other groups with whom to
collaborate.

If you are willing to accomodate to Debian's reasons (that is, the

It seems Alberto did everything he was asked to, including asking on IRC
again, while keeping the tone civil. What more can we expect from him?

Hi,

You've been given an alternative (ie: ask on IRC, still keeping your
gmail account).

Also, if you retried to register, I am guessing most (if not all) Salsa
admins would have seen your email again, and accepted it... You haven't,
as much as I know.

So, please do one of the suggested actions, and you'll get your account.

You may want to start reading answers you are getting.

We won't allow gmail.com addresses free accounts, ever. It is one of the
worst spam sources out there. Before that, we would be disabling gmail
completly, it just sucks to allow it.

And your mail address triggers spam filtering *easy*.

You can try catching an admin in #salsa on OFTC right when you try to
register again, and avoid rejection that way. Or just don't use gmail.

Re: salsa accounts

2022-11-02 Thread Znoteer
I am neither a Debian Developer nor a Debian Maintainer, so I am certainly not
in charge. However, as an ordinary Debian user, I was able to get a salsa
account after following the instructions for doing so, and waiting for my
account to be approved.

If you don't seem to be able to get an account, I would have to guess that
either you didn't follow the directions, or you just haven't waited enough.

Everything in Debian is done by volunteers. Though there is a Project Leader,
they do not have any authority to be ordering anybody to do anything nor to
officially investigate anything. Nobody does. If your account has been properly
applied for but not approved, it's because no volunteer with the necessary
system privileges has yet had the time to approve backlogged applications. No
one is going to tell anyone else to do it more quickly.

You'll just have to be patient like has previously been suggested.

Maybe it would be interesting allowing anyone to create an account at "

For example I'm using Debian's syncthing-gtk

port of the software to Python 3 not available elsewhere. But I cannot help
