override_dh_auto_test:
dh_auto_test -- --test-args='--foo bar --baz'

or at the top of debian/rules:

export PYBUILD_TEST_ARGS=--foo bar --baz

Hi all,

This doesn't seem to have been solved yet, so I've filed two bugs for
tracking the problem (setuptools is also affected by the same issue, and
5.4.1 has been recently released with the fix I sent to them):

- #754089 (python-setuptools: Version 5.3 does not work with HTTPS and
   proxy tunneling)
- #754090 (python-urllib3: Version 1.8.2 does not work with HTTPS and
   proxy tunneling)

I'm updating urllib3 right now. Thanks for your report!

Q: Python 2 vs Python 3 and wxgtk2.8 vs wxgtk3.0

2014-07-07 Thread Karsten Hilbert
Hi all,

I am upstream for a Python application:

http://wiki.gnumed.de

which is packaged in Debian:

https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=gnumed-client

and maintained:

http://blends.debian.org/med/tasks/practice

by the Debian Med Team:

https://www.debian.org/devel/debian-med/

GNUmed (an Electronic Medical Record System) runs under
Python 2 with wxPython 2.8 and it Depends: on python-uno.
Recently a bug was filed against GNUmed because python-uno is
likely to go away in favour of python3-uno (which is reasonable):

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=707341

The bug suggested we port GNUmed to Python 3 "ASAP". Now, the
"P"ossible part of ASAP is the problem:

Since ATM there does not exist either a python3-wxgtk2.8 nor
a python3-wxgtk3.0 we simply CANNOT port AND have GNUmed run
under Debian ...

I have searched the web and this list's archive for hints on
how Debian plans to handle this situation - it will apply to
quite a few packages, not just GNUmed. The only reference to
a python3-wxgtk I have been able to come up with is here:

https://packages.debian.org/sid/python/python3-serial

_From an upstream point of view it would be much preferrable to
have available a python3-wxgtk2.8 because that would not
force us to port to BOTH Python 3 AND wxPython 3 at the same
time.

What's the current Debian position ?

Thanks,
Karsten

2014-07-07 Thread Rene Engelhard
[ I filed the bug against GNUmed to migrate to python3. Dropping that
bug in my reply since it has NOTHING to do with the real bug. At least
a new bug "wxwidgets should provide a python3 package" then blocks the
gnumed bug, but it's not something one should handle there ]

thankfully the package only Recommends: python-uno..

debian-python doesn't maintain wxwidgets, you probably have more luck
asking the wxwidgets maintainers why there's no python3 variant.
(CC'ed)

> What's the current Debian position ?

TTBOMK the position is "build a python3 variant if your package supports
python3 and try to port it".

But given how many upstreams did not react on python3 in any way even though
that is the ONLY supported python version in "stock" LO 4.x. since > 1 year
(python-uno is a debian-specific hack) I don't have much hope that it supports
python3 now...

Regards,

Rene
