As Bug#152941 says, newer versions of Aethera depend on a non-free
tkwidgets library which hasn't been packaged for Debian yet.  Since the

Unless somebody appears to be working on it (either in the QA group or
in the relevant WNPP bug), it's generally OK to upload packages
maintained by [EMAIL PROTECTED] without too much fuss. Try to avoid
colliding with other people, but the DELAYED mechanism usually isn't
necessary.

Which video card do you have?  Do other svgalib applications crash as well?
Does it work if you put `chipset VESA' in /etc/vga/libvga.config?
