Transitioning to guile 1.6

2004-01-26 Thread Rob Browning

Howdy. If you're receiving this mail, it's because from an initial
glance at "apt-get rdepends libguile9", it looked like your packages
might be affected by removing guile1.4 from unstable (and eventually
testing), and that's something I've been thinking about lately.

In some cases, like Mikael and goops, I suspect the only action needed
would be to remove goops from Debian too (since guile-1.6 supercedes
it). In other cases, the packages may just need a re-build and
adjustment of their depdends, but of course that's hard to tell for
sure since there could still be scheme level incompatibilities.

Anyway, I just wanted to check and see what you thought about the
possibility of migration.

Thanks

Personally I think people can/should just do it themselves with
dpkg-statoverride.

That still applies if it hasn't been done, of course.

Bug#229732: encompass: Does not start

2004-01-26 Thread Helge Kreutzmann
Package: encompass
Version: 0.4.99.30-5
Severity: normal

Neither from the menu (in wmaker) nor from the command-line encompass
starts. The error message is:

** ERROR **: gconf error: Failed to contact configuration server (a likely
cause of this is that you have an existing configuration server (gconfd)
running, but it isn't reachable from here - if you're logged in from two
machines at once, you may need to enable TCP networking for ORBit)
