In Ubuntu, we've applied the attached patch to achieve the following:

  * debian/patches/fix_FTBFS_gcc_4.3.patch: modify src/transcalc.c to fix a 
FTBFS with gcc 4.3 in an open function (miss 3rd parameter)
  * debian/rules: added include of /usr/share/cdbs/1/rules/simple-patchsys.mk
  * Fix LP: #334035

We thought you might be interested in doing the same.
