Re: Bug#654417: Migration on good tracks
Hi again. Cyril Brulebois k...@debian.org (25/02/2012): Broken packages (in unstable): arb/non-free openmsx rlvm spring tulip The following packages are marked as bad on the tracker[1]: - arb/non-free, missing libmotif-dev on other platforms, so not binNMU'd. Building non-free issue: #661280 - openmsx: binNMU FTBFS #660415 - rlvm: sid-only BinNMU'd on all platforms but powerpc, where it FTBFS: #638271 - spring: binNMU FTBFS #660450 - tulip: binNMU FTBFS, sid-only #650653 So I've hinted arb/non-free, openmsx, and spring for removal so that the transition can happen. Since outdated binaries were still around, I “simulated” a britney dry run by “forcing” glew in, which seemed to work fine. Hopefully tomorrow morning's (10:00Z) run should see packages migrate. I'll make sure all the above-mentioned packages have bugs filed against them, and I'll see what needs to be done to remove old glew binaries from testing. Done, and old glew binaries are gone. ben file moved away accordingly. Closing this bug report. Mraw, KiBi. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#578046: currupts archives on 64bit systems with buffers larger than 2gb
On Fri, 16 Apr 2010, Yuri D'Elia wrote: Package: afio Severity: important Tags: patch When the block size * block count equals to 2gb or more, afio corrupts the archive by truncating all files larger than 2gb. [...] Thanks for the bug report and patch, I am reviewing and incorporating it in the upstream. The patch upgrades some uints to size_t, but it does not upgrade the count argument of readall to size_t, so I think this might lead to the achive ending up corrupt because not all data is written into it if your memory buffer (size * block count) is over 4GB and the file being archived is over 4 GB. I am not entirely sure, I have not tested it to verify, but just a warning: if you upgraded to 4GB memory buffer you might have gotten corrupt archives. Therefore, the change (build infos) is logged into the same log entry as the official maintainer's one. - First, the change is expected to be logged in a new entry, tagged non-maintainer upload since it is generally indeed the case. - Second, it means that the version of the local-built package will be the same as the one from the official repository. This leads to a very annoying bug with apt (see #351056). Indeed, after you've built all your world and have stored them in your local repository, apt will want to upgrade *all* your installed packages to the same version - the one from your local repository - again and again... These two issues are fixed by modifying debchange --append into debchange. This will add a new entry in the change log, tag it as non-maintainer upload if you're not recognized as author of the package and increment the minor version as expected. As there is no user input, this fails. But this is not the real problem, the real problem is that this prompt shows up in the first place, as there was nobody modifying this conffile at all, the package has just been installed and upgraded... This is a violation of policy 10.7.3, see http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-files.html#s10.7.3, which says [These scripts handling conffiles] must not ask unnecessary questions (particularly during upgrades), and must otherwise be good citizens. http://wiki.debian.org/DpkgConffileHandling should help with figuring out how to do this properly. For instance, most architectures aside from i386 do not have binary packages the same day the source is apt'able. So the apt source exists but apt-build install fails. The offending code is in the install module. An apt-get -y --print-uris install is run. Instead an apt-get -y --print-uris source should be used.
