Bug#823923: xcowsay: Misplaced binaries?

2016-05-10 Thread Federico Ceratto
Package: xcowsay
Version: 1.3-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

xcowsay is installing its binaries in /games instead of /usr/games in version
1.3-2

Impact: I've using xcowsay with a little script to notify me when my tea is
ready. Misplaced binaries are not found in $PATH leading to oversteeping.

Steps to reproduce: Check [1] or make tea.

Package: bochs
Version: 2.2.1-2

On 2005-10-30 bochs was updated in testing from 2.1.1+20041109-3 to
2.2.1-2, and it is now using libwxgtk2.4-1 instead of libwxgtk2.4.
Bochs does not start any longer, everything else (including the bochsrc
config file) being the same.

Here is an excerpt of the text in the console window just before
returning to the command prompt:

Gdk-ERROR **: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)

The bochs window opens but closes immediately.

I've used synaptic to keep my setup synched with testing.
Uninstalling and reinstalling either bochs (and bochswx) or
libwxgtk2.4-1 has no effect. Grabbing bochs those packages from unstable
instead of testing has no effect too.

Bye,
   Salvo

It does not crash for me, so I'm going to suppose that this was fixed
somewhere between 2005 and the release of Debian 8 (current stable).

Would a debian/control Build-Depends-Indep arch != i386 on a i386 cross

might be handy to reference. Eg "... on any-i386 (see bts#nn)". I've
poked around in the source directory here, and I don't see anything like

debian/rules has now:

  $(error "build-indep will only succeed on any-i386 or any-amd64")

and the changelog for 2.4.1-1 says this:

  * Add support for building the bochsbios architecture independent package
also on any-amd64 systems, and add gcc-multilib for such systems to
Build-Depends-Indep.

Moreover, we have now source-only uploads and there is an "Arch: all"
autobuilder which runs on the amd64 architecture, which is also
the most widely used architecture, so as far as it works on amd64,
this is not a big deal.

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
starting bochs in a terminal with the command "bochs -f bochsrc"
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
   * What was the outcome of this action?
a wx-windows with bochs appeared with no content (e.g. no BIOS messages),
another debug window appeared, pressed the CLOSE-button,
 then bochs finished
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
bochs starts the virtual machine, booting from harddisk
