More recent devices use a USB ID of 04b4:fd15. The present sispmctl is
unable to talk to such devices. This is fixed upstream in version 4.1.
Please update to that version or cherry pick the relevant git commit.
For your convenience, I backported the commit to version 3.1-1. I think
it would be useful to fix this in buster as these devices will become
more widespread.

Severity: minor

I stumbled over "dumphint". Given that it has not man page (which it
should, c.f. Debian Policy), I wanted to write a man page. However, on
every pdf-file I tried (created by a variety of different programms)
it fails to work. For example, when I use a small drawing created by
xfig, I get:
helge@thirtyto:~$ dumphint /tmp/ifer-l.pdf
Error: /undefinedfilename in (dumphint.ps)
Operand stack:

Execution stack:
   %interp_exit .runexec2 --nostringval-- --nostringval--
--nostringval-- 2 %stopped_push --nostringval-- --nostringval--
--nostringval-- false 1 %stopped_push --nostringval-- --nostringval--
Dictionary stack:
   --dict:1050/1123(ro)(G)-- --dict:0/20(G)-- --dict:70/200(L)--
Current allocation mode is local
Last OS error: 2
GPL Ghostscript 8.01: Unrecoverable error, exit code 1

And the error seems to be the same every time I call dumphint.

When I reverse the last two arguments, i.e.,
gs -q -dNODISPLAY -dSAFER -dDELAYSAFER -- /tmp/ifer-l.pdf "dumphint.ps"
then gs suceeds:
helge@thirtyto:~$ echo $?
0

However, there is no output (file, stdout) at all. Running under strace,
I see that *all* files are opened O_RDONLY, hence nothing will be
written.

So either dumphint needs to be documented (if you give me some
information, I can write you a man page) and possibly fixed (as the
current syntax as suggested by the help output simply does not work)
or if nothing else requires
it, it should be removed. If it only has some internal use, then it
should IMHO not be in a user visible namespace (i.e., not in the
default path).

Bug#964540: dropwatch build times out in the testsuite

2023-02-05 Thread Santiago Vila

severity 964540 important
thanks

Matthias Klose wrote:

dropwatch build times out in the testsuite, no output available in the build
log.

I can reproduce this as well.

On systems with a single CPU, the failure rate is about 100%
(i.e. it *always* fails).

Note for Andreas or whoever wants to look at this:

To reproduce please try setting GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="nr_cpus=1"
in /etc/default/grub first. If that does not work, then please
contact me privately, as I am willing to provide ssh access
to a machine where the failure may be reproduced all the time.

(I'm raising this from normal to important because it's a violation
of Policy 4.2, and also because I believe a fix should be allowed in
a bookworm point release in case nobody fixes it before 12.0).

Thanks.

Package: ghostscript
Version: 9.16~dfsg-2.1

Matthias Klose from Ubuntu has added multi-arch extensions for the libgs
of Ghostscript. The patch from Ubuntu is here:

http://launchpadlibrarian.net/235445264/ghostscript_9.16~dfsg~0-0ubuntu3_9.16~dfsg~0-0ubuntu4.diff.gz

Can this be added to the Debian package of ghostscript so that we can
sync it to Ubuntu in the future? Thanks.
